Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe To Be The First Made-In-India AMG
In order to enhance its position in the Indian market, Mercedes Benz has announced that it will start production of AMG models in India. The AMG GLC 43 Coupe will be the first AMG to roll out from the carmaker’s Chakan facility. Mercedes Benz currently has 10 CKD products in its portfolio.
The AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé will be powered by the same 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that powers the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Coupé. It makes 390PS and 520Nm of torque mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD system.
The standard GLC Coupe, on the other hand, is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine on offer is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine making 258PS and 370Nm. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 2.0-litre engine making 245PS and 500Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission paired with a 4WD system.
Talking about the design, the AMG GLC Coupe gets some AMG specific updates like vertical slat front grille, slightly tweaked LED headlamp and redesigned front bumper. The side profile gets a new set of alloy wheels. Coming to the rear, it gets a rear spoiler, slightly redesigned rear bumper, quad exhaust setup and mildly tweaked tail lamps.
Similarly, on the inside, while the layout remains unchanged with it gets some AMG-specific cues like black upholstery with red stitching, front sport seats and a flat-bottom AMG steering wheel. Features on offer include a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, air suspensions, multiple airbags, among others.
Along with the AMG GLC 43, Mercedes will also manufacture other AMG products in India. However, the carmaker is yet to reveal details of these upcoming made-in-India AMG vehicles. Mercedes has also confirmed that with the help of localisation, the prices of the AMG GLC 43 Coupe will be around Rs 80 lakh, Rs 20 lakh less than the CBU import model. Globally, the AMG GLC 43 Coupe competes with the BMW X4M but in India, it will have no rivals since BMW does not offer the X4M here.
