German luxury auto behemoth Mercedes-Benz is finally all braced up to unveil its first electric vehicle in its version next month. The highly anticipated and much talked about Mercedes EQ C all-electric SUV is gearing up for its world premiere on 4th of September, 2018. Mercedes-Benz has teased the upcoming new e-SUV prior to its official unveiling, flaunting its new headlamp and the dazzling LED DRLs light bar that joins the headlights covering the width across the front grille.
The new upcoming EQC SUV will be based on the Mercedes-Benz EQ Concept model that was first unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show, followed by its showcase in India at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo. The EQ C SUV will be the first product from Mercedes-Benz’s new EQ brand which was formed specifically for the company’s electric vehicles. As was earlier revealed by Mercedes-Benz, the EQ C e-SUV will be officially launched in the market in 2019.
As Mercedes-Benz is the leading luxury auto brand in India and is very aggressive about new launches and keeping its Indian product range fresh, we can really expect the EQ C to arrive in the Indian car market. However, that might not happen immediately after the EQ C global launch unlike the other products from the house Mercedes-Benz.
The German luxury auto giant is really bullish about reinforcing its leading position in the growing luxury auto market of India, but when fully-electric vehicles are concerned, we think even Mercedes will be taking decision pretty consciously. Mercedes-Benz which introduced India’s first BS-VI complaint vehicles way before time, will definitely study the Indian Government policies for the EVs and also consider the infrastructure development to support the EVs in this country, before bringing its advanced luxury electric EQ C SUV in our market.
Nevertheless, we do hope to get the EQ C here, as the government is really pushing for the development of the EV market in India. Considering India’s ambitious vision of seeing its entire auto industry getting electrified by 2030, we can really hope to see models like the new EQ C sooner in our market.
Mercedes-Benz has not yet released the exact specifications of the EQ C, but it has been speculated to be a new ground-breaking advanced all-electric vehicle. As per the speculations, the new upcoming EQ C will be packing in a 70 kWh lithium ion battery pack that will be powering the electric motors to offer over 400 bhp and a travel range of around 500 kilometers.
The Mercedes-Benz EQ C e-SUV is testing in the Southern Europe and in the US United States as part of the new range of 500 tests that Mercedes-Benz will be following on all its new models. Post its global launch, the new EQ C will be locking its horns with the recently launched Jaguar I-Pace, the Tesla Model X and the upcoming Audi e-Tron luxury e-SUV models.
In short, the new Mercedes-Benz EQ C e-SUV is braced to rule the future e-SUV market. We think that if and when it launches in India, it will really impress the deep-pocketed Indian buyers and be a massive success.
