    MG Hector SUV unveiled in India; Segment First Features Explained

    After months of promotions, MG Motors has finally debuted in India with the official unveiling of its first vehicle model in the country. The brand new MG Hector is a mid-sized premium SUV, which will go up against the likes of the Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier, Hyundai Tucson, and Mahindra XUV500, post its launch next month.

    Here is a quick look at the MG Hector’s most important features and segment firsts.

    To start with, as per MG, the Hector is India’s first vehicle model that offers connectivity on the go, empowered by the revolutionary iSMART NextGen technology. The iSMART NextGen technology amalgamates software, hardware, connectivity, services and applications to offer an easier, smoother and intelligent driving experience, said MG.

    The company also claims that the Hector SUV is the first to boast Machine to Machine (M2M) embedded SIM in it. Moreover, Hector will also be the first model in the country to get updates over the air. Thus, the infotainment unit will offer new looks and themes for the screen, along with new applications and new content with new updates.

    Variants & Features

    The MG Hector will be offered in 4 trim levels, namely - Style, Super, Smart and Sharp and comes in 5 exterior color options, namely - Starry Black, Candy White, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, and Burgundy Red.

    The Hector SUV is premium in quality and styling and offers a whole host of many interesting and premium features, including a 10.4-inch touch screen system, power adjustable seats, remote car operation,  panoramic sunroof and much more.

    The Hector SUV is also high on safety and offers equipment like ESP, Traction Control System, front and rear disc brakes, electronic parking brakes, vehicle stability management and hill-hold control, all of which are offered as standard features across the lineup.

    The pretty large 5-seater MG Hector also offers 587 liters of boot space, which also seems to be the best in its own class.

    More interestingly, the MG Hector is the first car offering in the mass-market in India to be equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system, while there will also be an E variant option.

    The MG Hector will be available in petrol and diesel versions as well and will hit the Indian market for sale in June 2019.
