MG ZS EV Effective Starting Price: Rs. 14.94 Lakh

These offers bring the effective starting price of the ZS EV from Rs. 17.99 lakh down to Rs. 14.94 lakh. Then, there are also state specific benefits in terms of registration costs depending on your city. Insurance costs will be on top of this pricing and not included in this estimate.

Should You Buy The ZS EV With These Discounts?

A 50kWh battery pack option for under Rs. 15.0 lakh over a Windsor 38 base model (Rs. 14.10 lakh ex-sh) does sound exciting. If you negotiate hard, these benefits could stretch to Rs. 3.50 - 4.0 lakh range. But, you should also know that the ZS EV doesn’t get a lifetime battery warranty. Moreover, the Windsor EV itself is also getting some decent discounts (~Rs. 75,000) in May 2026.

Given the rapid pace of improvements in the EV space, if you buy the ZS EV, you will be stuck with an old platform, almost vintage battery & motor technology and ageing design for the duration of your vehicle ownership.

Since the Windsor 53 starts at Rs. 17.38 lakh, for buyers interested in mostly just a long-range option, the ZS EV seems like a solid choice. The benefit of this platform is that it is proven with bugs mostly fixed.

However, beware that for a brand to remain profitable with such lucrative prices, MG must be making up somewhere else. Most likely, the gap is being filled through the service side of their business with high costs for spare parts when the car needs repair or replacement.

Since this is an EV, you can’t expect to get most components repaired or replaced from a local garage. It’s near impossible to find competent mechanics with the necessary spares and tools to accurately diagnose and fix the vehicle problems. So, you will remain dependent on MG authorised service centres for the duration of your vehicle ownership. The prices of spares and labour for certain jobs could be in the atrocious to daylight-robbery range.

Do keep these points in mind while making the jump to an EV, especially one with such mouth-watering prices.

If something sounds too good to be true, there's often some catch hiding in the fine print.
