BMW have taken the wraps off the all-new iX3, the first series-production model from their Neue Klasse family of cars. Serving as a preview of the brand’s next era, the new iX3 is a fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that blends cutting-edge EV technology with BMW’s trademark driving dynamics.
New BMW iX3: Range, Powertrain & Performance
At the heart of the new iX3 is sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, featuring a newly developed high-voltage battery with cylindrical cells and 800V architecture.
- Battery & Range: 108.7kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-certified range of 679km - 805km.
- Charging: Up to 400kW DC fast charging, capable of adding 372km of range in just 10 minutes. 10–80% charge takes about 21 minutes. AC charging is offered at 11kW (standard) or 22kW (optional).
- Power: The iX3 50 xDrive gets 345kW (469PS) and 645Nm from a dual-motor setup, enabling 0-100kmph in 4.9s with a top speed of 210kmph.
BMW have also engineered the iX3 for bidirectional charging, supporting Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications.

The new iX3 introduces BMW’s next-gen design language, which will eventually spread across the lineup.
- Dimensions: 4782mm long, 1895mm wide and 1635mm tall
- Aerodynamics: Drag coefficient of 0.24
- Cargo: 520L boot space, expandable to 1,750L; plus a 58L frunk
- Exterior Highlights: Vertical kidney grilles referencing the 1960s Neue Klasse, flush door handles, large surfaces with sharp lines, and a new light signature replacing chrome.

Inside, the iX3 offers a modern, minimalist cabin with high levels of digitalisation and comfort.
- BMW Panoramic iDrive: A new interface combining a full-width windscreen projection, central display, and upgraded voice controls with AI integration.
- Space & Comfort: Flat floor for improved space, optional panoramic sunroof, new seat designs with premium materials (Econeer fabrics, Veganza, M PerformTex, or BMW Individual Merino leather).
- Infotainment: Runs on BMW Operating System X with features like My Modes, AirConsole gaming, Disney+/YouTube video streaming, and Zoom video calls.
- Driver Assistance: Advanced ADAS supported by a new electronics architecture with four “superbrains,” allowing motorway assistant, city assistant with traffic-light detection, and semi-autonomous capabilities.
