The most likely design of the upcoming new Renault Kwid all-electric version has been revealed by the render artists. The upcoming zero emission version of the popular Renault Kwid entry-level hatchback is set to debut in the Chinese car market pretty soon. The all-electric Kwid has been also already caught testing on the Chinese roads wearing thick camouflages.
Initially it was thought that the Kwid EV (electric vehicle) would look very much similar to that of the regular fuel sipping version of the car. However, after the Renault K-ZE concept was showcased at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, it was indicated that the Kwid EV will offer a different visual appeal. The recently spied test prototype model was also caught with very thick veils covering the front fascia of the car, and it is safe to confirm that the Kwid EV will remain close to the K-ZE concept and will look significantly different than its petrol version.
The exact styling updates of the Kwid electric still remains unknown, but the recently posted rendered images of upcoming all-electric Kwid hatchback offers us a good idea of what it might look like in its production form. As per the render artist’s imagination based on the K-ZE concept and other details, the upcoming new electric Kwid will be getting many design updates in order to offer a different visual appeal and mark itself apart from its petrol avatar. In the Renault Kwid EV’s renderings, the vehicle will be flaunting a newly designed front grille as well as a new front bumper which would make the car look trendier and fresher. The headlights of the Kwid EV are also restyled and seem to have LED units which are certainly better than the regular units. The rear design of the upcoming Renault Kwid EV is also equally nice and fresh which gets restyled tail lights and revised rear bumper, and these make for the overall fresher and different visual appeal of the green version of the hatchback.
Under the skin, the upcoming Renault Kwid EV’s electric drivetrain will be manufactured by Renault in collaboration with the Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng, under the two company’s eGT New Energy Automotive joint venture. The Renault K-ZE concept was showcased with a claimed range of 250 km and a similar travel range is expected to be offered by the Kwid EV on a single charge
After the Renault Kwid all-electric version launches in China, it is expected to launch in many other global car markets, including India. Renault India has already expressed its wish to introduce the Kwid EV in the domestic car market, and this is expected to take place by 2022. This is because, Renault has announced to introduce at least one electric vehicle in India by 2022, and this is expected to be the electric version of the Kwid, as the hatchback is the consistent bestseller of the company in this country.
For the car market of China, the upcoming Renault Kwid all-electric model will get manufactured at Dongfeng manufacturing plant that is located in Shiyan in central China.
