The new generation Mercedes-Benz GLS was first reported to be on the anvil back in the month of September, 2017. Ever since, the 2019 Mercedes GLS has been getting spied every now and then, as the full-sized luxury SUV is busy undergoing its extensive test schedule. The flagship SUV model from the house of the German luxury automaker has again been spotted testing very recently, and is likely to have its world premiere sometime in early 2019. Currently, it is still in the early development stages as can be ascertained from the latest spy pictures.
The new set of spy shots show the usual heavily camouflaged test prototype of the new-gen Mercedes-Benz GLS, and don’t reveal any new details of the new avatar of the flagship SUV, apart from the fact that the new-gen model has definitely grown in size. However, the new spy pictures definitely indicate that the all new GLS model will be more attractive looking as compared to its predecessor. The new-gen Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV is getting braced up with new ammunition to fight the battle hard with the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Volvo XC90 and the likes.
When the exterior design language of the next generation Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV is concerned, as already mentioned above, there is no concrete details as such yet as the model is believed to be still in its initial developmental stage and always being caught with heavy veils. So, most of it is still a mystery, while we know that the SUV has got larger dimensions as compared against its predecessor. Nevertheless, it is known that the all new GLS gets a new MHA platform which will be offering more interior space, while also slashing down significant amount of weight. Most importantly, the new generation GLS is also expected to give a miss to its original boxy exterior design in favour of an entirely new sleeker and curvier styling language that is likely to come with smooth character lines. It is also known so far that the all new GLS SUV will also come endowed with a set of newly designed headlights as well as tail lights which will feature full LED lights along with smart LED Daytime Running Lights.
The all new 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS will be coming packed with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines which will come in 4-cylinder, 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder units. According to the reports, the new luxury SUV model will also be coming with a mild hybrid system as an option, which will be possible owing to new more accommodating new platform. The hybrid powertrain will be getting powered by a 3 litre petrol engine which will be paired with a mild hybrid system which is capable of generating an impressive power output of more than 400 bhp. The most powerful in the SUV’s lineup, the performance centric AMG version of the GLS will obviously also be there, which will be getting equipped with a 4 litre bi-turbocharged V8 motor.
