French car maker, Renault is planning to launch the next generation Duster SUV in the Indian car market within this year. The second generation model of the SUV has already made its public debut in the global markets. The 2018 new generation Renault Duster boasts of an all-new design language both on the outside and on the inside. The new Duster will also be coming with a wide array of features and will offer a more premium look and feel.
The Renault Duster has been a great success in India and actually established the Renault brand in India. However, the Indian SUV market has cutthroat competition and the launch of several new models have dampened the Duster’s demands.
The new-gen Duster was expected to make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2018, which didn’t happen. Thus, it seems Renault will take awhile to introduce the all new Duster in India. The latest iteration of the SUV is likely to have its Indian launch towards the end of this year.
The current-gen Renault Duster’s primary selling points are its butch appeal and its competitive pricing. The all new Duster is likely to come with equally competitive price range of around Rs. 8 lakhs to Rs. 12 lakhs.
The India-spec all new Renault Duster is expected to be more or less identical to its international version when the design language is concerned. Nevertheless, the French car maker is expected to make some mechanical changes to make the new-gen Duster cater to the Indian preferences and driving conditions.
Thus, we can expect the India-spec all new Renault Duster to be very similar to the global counterpart in terms of exterior visual appeal and interior layout. The new generation Duster compact SUV flaunts a highly contemporary and much more aggressive exterior styling as compared against the outgoing model that is rather bland looking although offers a proper SUV stance. The new-gen model looks very modern, stylish, alluring as well as premium as compared against its predecessor. The more premium look and feel of the SUV should also boost its sales in India significantly.
The second-gen SUV’s cabin has also seen full overhaul. The Duster’s key competition in India is the popular Hyundai Creta that is highly regarded for its premium, feature-rich cabin. Hence, the new-gen Duster is expected to get a plusher cabin that’s packed to the brim with great features. New added features in the all new Duster will include a new touchscreen infotainment system, GPS Navigation, automatic climate control, ABS with EBD, dual front airbags and rear parking sensors among many others.
Globally, the all new Renault Duster SUV packs in a 1.2L petrol mill and a 1.6L diesel motor choice. The Indian market is likely to get both these engine options. The petrol mill generates 125 Bhp, while the oil-burner delivers 130 Bhp. The new generation Duster SUV is going to be equipped with a 6 speed manual transmission as standard, while Renault is also expected to introduce a 6 speed automatic transmission option.
