Toyota Crosses 3 Lakh Hybrid Vehicle Sales Milestone In India | V3Cars

Toyota Kirloskar Motor have announced that it has crossed the cumulative sales milestone of 3 lakh hybrid vehicles in India. The company says the achievement underlines the growing acceptance of self-charging hybrid electric vehicle (SHEV) technology among Indian buyers and reinforces customer trust in Toyota’s electrification strategy.

Toyota Crosses 3 Lakh Hybrid Vehicles Milestone In India

Toyota attributes the milestone to increasing customer awareness regarding the benefits of hybrid technology, including improved mileage, lower emissions, better drivability and ease of ownership. The carmaker also reiterated its commitment to a “multi-pathway” approach towards carbon neutrality by offering multiple electrified powertrain options.

Toyota currently sells hybrid models such as the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Hycross, Camry Hybrid and Vellfire in India.

Commenting on the milestone, Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said:

“We are immensely proud to achieve the milestone of 3 lakh hybrid vehicle sales in India, reflecting the strong and growing customer trust in Toyota’s Self-charging Hybrid Electric technology. At Toyota, our philosophy of ‘Mass Electrification’ is rooted in offering practical, scalable, and inclusive mobility solutions.”

Toyota’s hybrid system combines a petrol engine with an electric motor, enabling the vehicle to run on electric power for a significant portion of city driving conditions. The battery is automatically charged through regenerative braking and the engine itself, eliminating the need for external charging infrastructure.

The company also highlighted that its hybrid vehicles come with an 8-year hybrid battery warranty, aimed at improving long-term ownership confidence.

Toyota has been one of the early adopters of hybrid technology in India. The Toyota Camry Hybrid became India’s first locally manufactured hybrid car when it was launched in 2013.
