Ford is preparing to refresh its popular premium SUV, the Endeavour in India. The new updated 2019 Ford Endeavour will launch in the Indian car market on 22nd of February, 2019. The highly successful Endeavour will be endowed with mild cosmetic updates and features updates, while its variant lineup will also be updated for the country. Ford India has already commenced the bookings for the Endeavour facelift at selected authorized dealerships with an advanced payment of Rs. 1 lakh.
The new refreshed Endeavour full-sized premium SUV’s exterior styling updates include restyled headlights along with revised LED daytime running lights. The SUV’s honeycomb mesh front grille also gets a slight refresh, while there also new fog light surrounds and new body cladding. The vehicle also gets a set of new alloy wheels.
On the inside, the 7-seater SUV will be coming with the same layout. However, the beige-brown interior scheme will make way for the new beige-black interiors in the new updated model.
On the features front, the updated new Ford Endeavour will be coming with some added new goodies that include the pushbutton start as part of the standard package. The SUV will also get a smart boot opening system, power adjustable seats, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, parking sensors with reverse camera and electric sunroof. The infotainment system of the vehicle will be get updated to Ford SYNC 3 user interface along with added features.
When it comes to the powertrains, the refreshed Endeavour SUV will continue to get equipped by the ongoing two diesel engine choices. The 2.2 litre 4-cylinder diesel motor is good to belt out a maximum power output of 157 bhp along with 385 Nm of top torque, while the more powerful 3.2 litre 5-cylinder oil burner is good to generate 196 bhp and 470 Nm. Both the motors are paired with a 6 speed dual-clutch automatic transmission gearbox. In the updated model, the 2.2 liter engine is likely to be offered with a manual transmission option. The larger 3.3 liter motor will come with the AWD option just like the ongoing model.
In the car market of Thailand, the Endeavour facelift gets a new 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor from Ford’s new Panther engine range. This engine is available in turbocharged and twin-turbocharged guises, which offer 180 hp/420 Nm and 213 hp/500 Nm, respectively. The engines get paired to a 6 speed manual and a sophisticated 10 speed automatic transmission gearbox options. This new diesel motor offers better power figures as well as better fuel economy as compared to the 2.2 litre motor that currently powers the India-spec Endeavour. Although the American auto major is not expected to introduce this new oil burner in our market, in case if it does, then it will be a really welcome change.
The Ford Endeavour has been enjoying great success in the Indian full-sized premium SUV segment. Nevertheless, the competition in the segment has become tougher over time. Apart from the segment leader Toyota Fortuner and the very capable Skoda Kodiaq, the segment also has the updated new Isuzu MU-X and the recently introduced all new Mahindra Alturas G4. Hence, The Endeavour really needs a good update to retain its position in the highly competitive Indian SUV market.
