Skoda Tease New-Gen Kodiaq SUV Ahead Of October 4 Reveal | V3Cars

Skoda are all set to reveal the new Kodiaq SUV worldwide on October 4. Ahead of its official reveal, Skoda have released a few design sketches of the upcoming SUV, thus giving us a hint of what the carmaker’s flagship SUv could look like when it goes on sale in European markets later this year. Let’s take a closer look at the design sketches of the new Kodiaq 2024 to see what it offers.

2024 Skoda Kodiaq Updated Exterior Design

Based on the design sketches released by Skoda, it is clear that the designers have gone for an evolutionary approach rather than a radical one. Like the current Kodiaq, the new model is expected to retain Skoda’s signature butterfly grille. The headlamps look more angular than the units on the current Kodiaq, which received a facelift earlier this year. What’s more, the new 2024 Kodiaq will receive the brand’s second-generation TOP LED Matrix headlamps.

Around the side, we expect a similar design as the current Kodiaq, with squared-off wheel arches and black wheel cladding. Additionally, the production-spec SUV is likely to receive the option of a dark chrome finish for the D-pillar as well. Skoda say the new Kodiaq will be offered with wheel sizes ranging from 17-inches to 20-inches.

As far as the rear of the new Kodiaq is concerned, Skoda have revealed 2 sketches with different LED taillamp designs. While both feature an angular rear end with a sporty roof spoiler, one of them gets connected LED taillamps. Hence, it is hard to determine which of these sketches see the light of day later this year. Meanwhile, the ‘ŠKODA’ lettering on the tailgate finishes off the rear design of the new Kodiaq.

Surprisingly, Skoda have already revealed the interior of the new Kodiaq SUV. The most notable features of the new Skoda Kodiaq 2024 are its 2-spoke steering wheel, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The HVAC and media volume are controlled by 3 rotary dials mounted under the AC vents. All three dials get built-in displays that display the set temperature and volume level.

Other details that are visible include a wireless charging pad and 2 USB-C ports in the centre console. As far as seating layouts go, Skoda plan to launch the Kodiaq with a 5-seater layout initially, followed by a 7-seater version at a later date. We expect Skoda to increase the wheelbase of the new Kodiaq to improve space for both passengers and their luggage over the outgoing model.

2024 Skoda Kodiaq Expected Powertrain Options

The new Skoda Kodiaq is likely to get petrol, diesel, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options in international markets. While the plug-in hybrid powertrain will be an all-new option, the other powertrains will be carried over from the current SUV.

While the current India-spec Kodiaq comes with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine, the Euro-spec Kodiaq features a 1.5L turbo petrol engine that puts out 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque. The 2.0L turbo diesel engine in the Euro-spec Kodiaq puts out 150PS of power and 360Nm of torque and comes with the option of all-wheel-drive as well. The plug-in hybrid powertrain of the new Skoda Kodiaq is expected to produce 200PS of power. The petrol and diesel engines will continue to get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (DCT) while the plug-in hybrid engine will come with a 6-speed DCT.

New Skoda Kodiaq India Launch Details

Considering Skoda launched the Kodiaq facelift in India only in August this year, we can expect the all-new Kodiaq to arrive on our shores later in 2024. The current Skoda Kodiaq is priced between Rs. 38.50 lakh - Rs. 41.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and we can expect the new-gen Kodiaq to cost slightly more thanks to the added features and improvements. When launched, the new Kodiaq will continue to rival other D1- and D2-segment SUVs like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster.
