French automaker, Peugeot is busy working on a new stylish and contemporary SUV model which will be introduced in early 2020. The new upcoming Peugeot 4008 is a new four-door SUV model, which has a very sleek and alluring styling rather than the typical butch appeal of an SUV. Thus, this stylish SUV with its smooth and sleek styling will be more akin to a coupe rather than a hard-core off-roader. Upon its market launch, the new Peugeot 4008 will be locking its horns with contemporarily styled UV models such as the Toyota C-HR.
The new upcoming Peugeot 4008 SUV is based on the existing 3008 SUV. However, the 4008 is likely to have a curvier exterior, a sloping roofline and narrower side glass as compared against the 3008. The new SUV will thus be more coupe-like and more stunningly designed. It will also get some very interesting design cues such as blade-shaped LED daytime running lights, a bold and stylish radiator front grille and a very distinctive light bar decorating its rear façade.
While speaking on the development, the French car manufacturing company’s Chief Executive Officer Jean-Phillipe Imparato said that there will be a lot of other things as well which will join the Peugeot SUV line-up. Thus, the company is or will soon start working on a whole lot of new SUV models other than the 4008. The company like many other global carmakers is betting big on new SUV models in order to expand business and make more profits by making the most of the global craze for SUVs in the recent times.
Imparato has also revealed that all the new upcoming vehicle models from the house of Peugeot will be getting endowed with the new i-Cockpit. The company’s i-Cockpit includes a high placed digital instrument clusters and comes along with a more compact and stylish steering wheel.
The new upcoming Peugeot 4008 SUV is thus going to have a contemporary, digital and srylish cockpit as well enhancing the visually appealing and sporty nature of the SUV. Another interesting bit is that, apart from coming with a smooth and sleek exterior styling which is more like a coupe, the 4008 also might not get raised ground clearance, unlike any typical SUV or crossover model and is expected come with a low-slung appeal. The new vehicle would be offering a lower and sportier driving position as well, while SUVs usually offer a high driving position. Going by everything, it seems like the upcoming 4008 will be a soft-roader rather than an off-road capable vehicle, but it is too early to comment on that.
The Peugeot 4008 is a 5-seater model and is being developed on the PSA EMP2 platform. While other details are not out yet, Peugeot has claimed that the 4008 will be offering a fun to drive experience thanks an exclusive suspension setup as compared against other models underpinned by the PSA EMP2 platform. The SUV is likely to get a petrol and diesel engine choice.
