German luxury automaker BMW is all set to unveil the next-gen 3-Series at the 2018 Paris Auto Show in October. Codenamed as the G20, the 7th generation BMW 3-Series model was last seen in a teaser wherein the automaker has shown it undergoing final testing at the Nurburgring ahead of its launch.
According to the reports, the upcoming BMW 3-Series will be powered by the most powerful four-cylinder engine ever used on a BMW as well as it will also be more fuel efficient than the outgoing model. The new 3 Series will come with a range of petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains. The model launching in India may not come with the hybrid though. The new engine will come mated to an 8-speed Steptronic gearbox, which will send power to the rear wheels. Some variants may also feature BMW’s XDrive all-wheel-drive system. The new 3-series will weigh about 55kg less and stand 10mm lower than its predecessor and will also boast perfect 50:50 weight distribution. The wheelbase is expected to be longer, which may be visible inside the cabin too.
Apart from the exterior, the interior of the upcoming BMW 3-Series will also come with major updates such as a more classy treatment for the cabin, redesigned gear stick, fully-digital instrumentation display similar to the Audi Virtual Cockpit, as well as the new display on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which will also debut in India later this year. Other than these, the luxurious vehicle will also sport an M Sport edition as the outgoing model. The new M Sport version of the 3-Series will feature lightweight 18-inch wheels, M Sport differential, signature steering wheel, as well as sportier suspension package and a number of aesthetic updates.
However keeping speculations aside, we’ll have to wait for the manufacturer to reveal the seventh- generation BMW 3-Series for official details about everything.
