Hyundai have officially unveiled the 4th-generation i20 in Brazil. Based on the Hyundai-Kia K3 platform, the new i20 receives a comprehensive redesign inside and out, along with a significantly upgraded feature list and revised powertrain options.

The new hatchback is currently intended for the Brazilian market, and Hyundai are yet to confirm plans for other global markets, including India.
The 4th-generation i20 adopts a completely different design philosophy compared to the current model sold in India.
At the front, the hatchback features connected LED lighting elements, a wider grille and a more upright stance. The bumper design is also more aggressive than before, while black body cladding around the wheel arches, doors and bumpers gives it a crossover-inspired appearance.

Key exterior highlights include:
Compared to the current India-spec i20, the new model is significantly larger.
The interior of the new i20 receives a complete overhaul with a new dashboard design, a redesigned steering wheel and larger digital displays.
The steering wheel adopts Hyundai's latest design language, while the dashboard now features a cleaner layout with touch-sensitive HVAC controls.

Other interior changes include:
Another notable improvement is boot space. The next-gen i20 offers a 346-litre boot, which is 35 litres larger than the current India-spec model.
Hyundai have equipped the new i20 with a feature list that rivals many B2-segment SUVs.
Standard features include:
Safety features offered across the range include:

Higher variants add:
The higher trims of the new i20 are also available with ADAS. It includes:
This makes the new i20 one of the most technologically advanced hatchbacks in its segment.

Hyundai are offering the new i20 with 2 petrol engine options in Brazil:
Interestingly, the turbo-petrol engine is closely related to the 1L turbo unit currently offered with the Hyundai i20 N Line in India.
The next-generation i20 is offered in 5 variants:
The Comfort and Limited variants are available with the normal petrol engine and manual gearbox, while the X Line, Platinum and Ultimate variants get the turbo-petrol automatic powertrain.
Hyundai have not announced any plans to introduce the 4th-generation i20 in India. Given that the current third-generation i20 remains relatively fresh in our market and continues to receive periodic updates, an India launch of the new-generation model appears unlikely in the immediate future.
However, some of the technology and design elements showcased on the Brazil-spec model could eventually make their way to the India-spec i20 through future facelifts and updates.
