The Honda Amaze subcompact sedan is all set to get its second generation model, which is likely to make its Indian debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. The Honda Amaze had been a massive success in India and was the only model which actually challenged the all-time popular Maruti Suzuki Dzire. However, with a whole lot of other new models in the compact sedan segment, the Amaze’s popularity ebbed, although it continues to sell well. With the launch of the all new Honda Amaze, the company is hoping to boost its demands.
The Japanese auto giant has revealed some details before it officially takes the wraps off the next generation Amaze sedan. As per a report, Honda has said that the all new Amaze will be much more premium compared to the current model. Honda also said that the all new Amaze will be offering a more luxurious cabin. The first generation Honda Amaze was launched in India in 2013, and although it was an instant success, it drew a lot of criticism for its tacky interior and cabin materials. Honda tried to fix this issue to some extent by offering the facelifted model of the sedan in 2016, which got a new dashboard.
In the new generation Honda Amaze, the Japanese auto major is thought to be offering an entirely newly design interior which will be much more refined and up-market with good quality materials. Apart from quality materials on the inside, the second generation Honda Amaze is also expected to get a more alluringly designed new dashboard. Although the all new Amaze is going to stay a sub-4 meter car in order to avail the small car subsidies, Honda is expected to stretch the dimensions of the small sedan a bit in order to offer a roomier and more comfortable cabin as against the current generation model. The new model is also thought to come with increased width in order to offer more comfort to the rear passenger in terms of increased elbow room. It is also good to mention at this point that the Honda Amaze is already praised as one of the most spacious subcompact sedan models in India; nevertheless Honda is expected to stretch this aspect to gain more attention towards the new-gen Amaze.
Under the hood, the all new Honda Amaze sedan is expected to retain the current engine range, although there are no official details yet. Thus, the same 1.2L Vtec petrol and the 1.5L Dtec diesel engines are expected to continue. The new-gen model is also likely to be carrying forward the same platform as its predecessor, while the dimensions are also going to be almost similar, despite the expectation of a roomier cabin. It is going to have a new, more stylish and sophisticated exterior design, which is expected to get some styling cues from the current Honda City mid-sized premium sedan. The second generation Honda Amaze is expected to get a new chrome grille, sharper headlights and bolder styling elements to mark itself different from the ongoing model.
The all new Honda Amaze is expected to launch in India sometime in 2018.
