German auto major and the current largest car maker in the world, Volkswagen is busy working on a number of new car models. Despite overtaking the Japanese car maker Toyota Motor, as the globe’s largest selling car major, Volkswagen is still troubled by its stained brand image owing to its diesel emission scam. Thus, the German auto giant is concentrating on offering several great new car models to enthrall the buyers of the world.
The popular Volkswagen Polo hatchback is currently in its 5th generation model, which is almost 8 years old. In the Indian car market, the Polo premium hatchback fights with very capable and incredibly popular models such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20. The Polo’s popularity and sales numbers haven’t been great in the Indian market although the model is very capable. Thus, the Volkswagen Polo certainly needs a complete overhaul in order to compete with its market rivals with fresh vigour. The next generation Volkswagen Polo has been rendered and the rendering has been splashed on the internet in order to offer a good idea about the new design language of the car. The next generation VW Polo hatchback is likely to break cover at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show next month. The new model is not only expected to look bolder and more alluring, but also come with overall more premium quality with improved feature-rich interiors.
The next generation model or the sixth-gen Volkswagen Polo will be based on the new modular MQB A0 platform which is sturdier, lightweight and also offers enhanced driving comfort and improved ride and handling. The lightweight construction of the next-gen Polo will also make more fuel efficient than the current model. When design is concerned, the new Volkswagen Polo will be getting a sportier exterior design language along with more upclass interiors and high quality materials. The next-gen Polo will also be packed to the brim with premium features which will include a touchscreen infotainment system along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Other premium features that will be offered include reverse camera, rear parking sensors cruise control system and much more.
The upcoming new generation Volkswagen Polo is also likely to be equipped with a new range of petrol and diesel mills. Volkswagen will reportedly replace the current 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter petrol and diesel motors with new 1.5 liter petrol and diesel units. However, the company has not yet confirmed anything. The engine range on the new Polo will include a 1.0 liter, a 1.6 liter TSI and TDI motors, while a powerful 1.8 liter TSI petrol engine will power the top of the range Polo GTI model. Transmission duties will be carried out by a 5 speed manual transmission and a 7 speed DSG automatic transmission gearbox option.
The all new Volkswagen Polo is likely to hit the car markets of Europe by June 2017, while it is expected to come to India in early 2018.
