The Indian car market is a vast and fast growing space. The Indian auto industry is also one of the largest car markets in the world and is always buzzing with the news of innumerable new car launches from several international and homegrown auto majors. Following the global trend, India too is witnessing a great boom in the SUV market, and several new SUV models are being launched in the Indian market in the recent times. All the auto makers operating in India are very eager to launch their representatives in the SUV market as soon as possible, and the Japanese car maker Nissan is no exception. The Nissan Kicks compact SUV has been speculated to be an India-bound model for quite some time. Now, the Japanese company has finally confirmed that the Nissan Kicks SUV is really being prepared for its Indian launch.
It has been confirmed by the company that the Nissan Kicks compact SUV will launch in India sometime in 2018. The Senior Vice President of Nissan and Chairman of Management Committee for Africa, Middle East and India, Mr. Paymen Kargar to an Indian auto portal said that the next product for the Indian car market from the company would be the Kicks SUV that is scheduled for 2018 launch.
It has been quite some time since Nissan has launched a new product in the very potential Indian car market. In fact, Nissan India has not offered a new product since 2013 and its existing models are not generating great sales. In order to boost sales and improve its market positioning, Nissan is said to be getting prepared to launch a slew of new model launches in India, one of which will be the Kicks. Confirming this, Kargar further said that Nissan will be introducing a number of new products in India in the future. He also added by saying that while the company’s upcoming product portfolio for the Indian market will be fully global, the models will be tweaked in order to suit the Indian market requirements and conditions.
The Kicks seem to be a wise choice from Nissan to be the next launch in India, as the Indian SUV market is rapidly growing, and the compact SUVs are specially getting most of the buyers’ attention.
The India-bound Nissan Kicks compact SUV will be based on the Renault M0 platform which the French automaker shares with its Japanese partner. The M0 platform also underpins the Renault Duster SUV and the soon to launch Renault Captur SUV. Nissan has highlighted the Kicks being underpinned by the M0 platform, as this would enable the company to price the model very competitively. The M0 platform also means that the Kicks SUV will be offering uncompromised and world-class quality.
The Nissan Kicks comes with a trendy styling and an aggressive face. The Kicks’ styling and compact design should attract the Indian buyers. If Nissan can pack in a plethora of good features in the SUV while also pricing it attractively, then the Kicks can prove to be a winner for Nissan in India.
