It is a known fact that Peugeot is going to start its operations in the car market of India by the year 2020. The French car maker’s parent company PSA Group has formed a joint venture with the Indian industrial group CK Birla Group in order to operate in the country. As per the agreement between the French and the Indian companies, the subsidiary of CK Birla Group - Hindustan Motor Finance Corporation Limited will be handling the sales and distribution department for the Peugeot branded vehicles in the Indian market.

On the other hand, AVTEC Limited will be responsible for supplying the powertrains of the Peugeot cars in India. AVTEC is another subsidiary of the CK Birla Group. In this way Peugeot is going to increase the localization levels for its products. The localized car components from CK Birla Group will help Peugeot to price their products competitively in India.

Peugeot has already started testing its products in India and preparing full swing to launch its initial product lineup in the domestic car market of this country. As per the reports, the first product from the house of this French automaker in this country would be an SUV model – the Peugeot 3008. The 3008 is a fairly big SUV and comes with premium and commanding looks, which is definitely suitable for the constantly growing and highly popular SUV market of this country.

The Peugeot 3008 SUV’s front fascia comes with distinctively designed headlights, LED daytime running lights, grille with classy chrome inserts and a big air dam. The newly introduced GT Line and GT models of the SUV also come with additional sporty features including dual exhaust pipes with chrome finish, dual tone body colour scheme and stylish 19 inch alloy wheels.

The Peugeot 3008 has a very well designed interior as well. The SUV’s cabin features the company’s i-Cockpit design theme. There is a large 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster and a large 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system among other features. Other comfort and convenience features of the Peugeot 3008 SUV includes front and rear parking sensors, 6 airbags, panoramic sunroof, electrically operated tailgate, heated front seats and much more.

For the Indian car market, some of the 3008’s features might be slashed down by Peugeot in order to make it more practical as per the Indian requirements and also to keep the vehicle’s price on check for this price sensitive market. Due to the high localization level, the Peugeot 3008 is expected to come with a competitive price tag, which would help it to be success in our market. It is expected to be similar priced to the very popular Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster and thus, will be competing with the likes, post its launch in India.

The compact SUV market of India which has models like the Creta and Duster is rapidly increasing and a whole lot of new SUV and crossover models will be entering this segment soon, one of which will be the Peugeot 3008.
