In this Q4 2022 D-segment quarterly cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the car sales of D-segment for the previous year. We’ll also compare the YoY and QoQ change to find out which D-segment cars’ sales improved and which ones declined.

Q4 2022 - D-Segment Quarterly Car Sales Figures - YoY Change
- Most D-segment cars saw an increase in dispatches in Q4 2022 compared to Q4 2021
- The only cars in the category that saw a decline in numbers were:
- Hyundai Elantra (Discontinued)
- Mahindra Alturas G4 (67.39% drop)
- Toyota Innova (64.60% drop)
- Citroen C5 AirCross (60.71% drop)
- Skoda Octavia (38.13% drop)
- Kia Carnival (35.00% drop)
- MG Gloster (15.74% drop)
- Tata Harrier (11.70% drop)
- SUVs and MPVs continue to rule the D-segment. There are only 4 sedans in the D-segment, and only 1 pick-up.
- In fact, the top 10 best selling D-segment cars are all SUVs or MPVs, with 4 out of the top 5 being SUVs.
- The Mahindra Scorpio (Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic), Mahindra XUV700, Kia Carens, Tata Harrier and Hyundai Alcazar took the top 5 spots.
- Top notable winners in the category were:
- Volkswagen Tiguan (622.50% growth)
- Skoda Kodiaq (445.45% growth)
- Mahindra Marazzo (417.70% growth)
- Hyundai Tucson (184.73% growth)
- Mahindra Scorpio pair (147.85% growth)

- Most cars in the segment saw a decline in the QoQ comparison analysis
- Only cars that saw some growth were:
- Toyota Hilux (387.50% growth)
- Mahindra Marazzo (126.74% growth)
- Toyota Camry (28.50% growth)
- Toyota Vellfire (11.79% growth)
- Mahindra Scorpio-N/Scorpio Classic (2.46% growth)
- In terms of QoQ performance, the Scorpio sisters were the best-selling cars in the D-segment
- The MG Gloster saw the biggest QoQ decline (among mass-market cars) of over 47% in QoQ comparison analysis
