    Renault Captur SUV India launch gets delayed

    French car maker Renault unveiled its Captur premium compact SUV in India last month, and it was supposed to officially go on sale during the Diwali week. However, the launch of the new Renault Captur has got delayed in India, and it is now expected to go on sale in the first half of next month. Renault has remained tight lipped regarding this issue and has not officially revealed any reason which caused the delay of the Captur’s India launch. However, the pre-launch bookings for the Renault Captur are still open for an amount of Rs. 25,000. The Captur SUV is likely to have a price range of around Rs. 12 lakhs to Rs. 15 lakhs in the Indian car market.

    The Captur will be offered as a premium SUV offering from the house of the French automaker, and it will be placed in Renault’s Indian portfolio above the popular Duster compact SUV. Renault currently offers only 3 models in India, namely the Kwid, Lodgy and Duster. With the launch of the Captur SUV, Renault India’s portfolio will get expanded to 4 models. The Captur SUV in India will be sharing the same platform as well as the powertrains as that of the Duster, but it will be much more premium in terms of looks and features.  

     

    The features list of the Renault Captur will be include dual front infinity instrument cluster, key-less smart access card, a touchscreen integrated infotainment system, airbags, ABS, 17-inch alloy wheels and much more. Moreover, the French car maker will also be offering the new Platine variant which is specifically meant for the car market of India. The Renault Captur Platine model trim will be loaded with alluring features such as the golden interior theme, plush leather seat upholstery, cruise control, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, 7 inch touchscreen display integrated infotainment system, rear parking camera, push-button start/stop system and hill start assist. Other features on this trim include LED headlights and automatic rain sensing wipers. 

     

    Renault is also offering two customization options to suit the customers’ personal preferences and to make the SUV standout in the crowd with distinctive appeal. These customization choices are namely - Urban Connect and Diamond Deck. The personalization options simply offer a different and eye-catching visual appeal with the help of different exterior graphics. 

    Initially, the Renault Captur SUV will be launched in India equipped with only a 1.5 litre diesel motor that has the capability to churn out 110 PS of power and 250 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine will be coupled with a 6 speed manual transmission. A 1.5 litre petrol engine that can generate 106 PS of power and is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission will be joining the lineup soon. An automatic transmission and an all 4-wheel drive option are also said to be planned to be offered in the Indian market at a later date. The Renault Captur SUV will be strengthening the company’s position in the fast growing Indian SUV market.
