The Renault Kwid entry-level hatchback is also by far more popular and more successful than its SUV sibling Duster. Renault wishes to gain sustainable market shares in India and is working on an aggressive strategy for this highly potential car market. The Indian market forms an important part of Renault’s global strategy, and the company has revealed its strategic decision to expand the Kwid range to four models.

One of the Renault Group’s primary success pillars is its Global Access Range, which comprises of the highly-localized, low cost models for the price sensitive markets. The French company has managed to sell 10 million global access cars in the past 13 years. The company has now increased the sales goal to 2 million Global Access cars per year by the end of 2022, which is a huge target.

In order to achieve this sales goal, the Renault Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Carlos Ghosn recently announced that the company will certainly expand the Renault Kwid range, with two new models covering two new segments, first designed for the car market of India and then it will be expanded further from there. He added by saying that the Chief Performance Officer at Renault, Stefan Mueller will be further developing the company’s strategy regarding the global access range and the emerging markets.

While speaking on the development, the EVP, Chief Performance Officer at Renault Group, Stefan Mueller also made a very interesting announcement, which came across as a surprise. Somewhat contradicting Ghosn’s announcement that Renault would be introducing two new Kwid models to expand the range further, Mueller revealed that there are will actually be three new Kwid models.

Mueller said that the company’s global market strategy is based on a range expansion with Kwid family increasing from the current one to the future four models. He added by saying that the company strategy also includes a full overhaul of the Logan and  Sandero models from its sub-brand Dacia and the revision of the Renault/Dacia Duster model. He also revealed that the company will also be launching a new C-SUV in the future.

According to the previous reports, these upcoming 3 models from the Renault Kwid family are a new subcompact SUV that is codenamed as the Renault HBC and a subcompact sedan model that is known by its codename Renault LBC. Nevertheless, earlier this year, another report claimed that the French auto maker has shelved the Renault LBC project. As per the speculations, the third model is expected to be a fully electric variant of the Kwid for the Chinese car market.
