As per a leaked document, Renault India is preparing to launch the Triber compact MPV’s AMT automatic variant on May 18, 2020. It has been known for a long time that the Renault Triber, which is based on the Kwid, will get an automatic transmission version. Renault showcased the Triber with a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) option at the 2020 Auto Expo in February.
The Renault Triber entry-level MPV was always expected to come with an AMT option, considering that it shares its powertrain with the Kwid.
The AMT variant of the compact MPV is now rumoured to go on sale on May 18, as per the report that splashed on the web world. This should help in the Triber recover from the sales drop as interest in car buying drops.
The Triber is also likely to get a turbocharged version of its 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder once it's introduced in the sub-4m SUV. The engine is expected to make 100PS of power and 160Nm of torque.
The current 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that powers the Triber MPV is a tad more powerful version of the Kwid’s engine. This engine offers around 72hp of maximum power and 96Nm of peak torque.
Meanwhile, Renault is also offering a 3-month EMI holiday offer on the purchase of Kwid, Triber or Duster. The condition is that the loan amount is limited to Rs. 4.5 lakh for the Kwid and Triber and Rs. 7.5 lakh for the Duster. Also, the loan tenure has to be fixed at 36 months and the offer is available only from Renault Finance while the interest rate is 8.99%.
