    Revealed: 2019 India-bound Audi A4

    German luxury automaker Audi has unveiled the updated A4 for the international markets. The 2019 Audi A4 gets subtle changes to the exterior and the interior and also brings about a new S-Line package that further enhances the looks of the car. Receiving the mid-life update, the facelift for the fifth-generation A4 is expected to arrive in India some time in 2019. Currently, the automaker sells the pre-facelift model in the Indian market.

    In terms of changes, the 2019 India-bound Audi A4 will be offered with front bumper with tweaked fog lamp housing, sporty front- end with black finish around the hexagonal front grille and the Ascari Blue exterior color. At the rear, it will offer trapezoidal tailpipes at the lower end along with narrower diffuser area between the exhaust tailpipes. Currently, the India-spec A4 is available with 17-inch wheels and the upcoming model is expected to get the wheel size between 16 to 19 inch alloys.

    Apart from these, the German automaker has also offered the facelifted A4 with a new equipment package called the S line competition. At present, Audi offers the India-spec A4 in Premium Plus and Technology variants and the customers can choose the S line package as well. The present S line package includes front and rear bumper, side air inlet grille in titanium matte black with chrome highlights as well as diffuser insert, radiator grille in twilight grey matte, grille slats in chrome, high-gloss package, sill side trims painted in the vehicle color, illuminated front door sill panels with aluminum insert and S-lettering, diffuser insert in twilight grey matte, inlay in rear bumper in a honeycomb structure and Chrome-plated exhaust tailpipes.

    On the other hand the newly introduced S line competition package offers pentagonal contours surrounding the exterior air inlets with aluminum-look bars on their insides, new bumpers with pronounced wedge-shaped design, separate openings in the air inlets to guide a portion of the airflow into the wheel housings, where it flows past the wheels, front grille features slats with a 3D look, RS rear spoiler on the A4 Avant, new Turbo Blue paint finish, Audi Sport 19-inch wheels, red brake calipers, sport suspension, LED headlights, Audi logo in the lower section of the rear doors, in either silver or black, depending on the exterior paint color, RS carbon inlays inside the cabin, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and black partial leather sport seats and option of S sport seats in magma red or in other colors.

    The existing Audi A4 in the Indian market is priced at Rs 41.47 lakh for the 30 TFSI (petrol) Premium Plus, Rs 45.05 lakh for 30 TFSI (petrol) Technology, Rs 43.37 lakh for the 35 TDI (diesel) Premium Plus and Rs 46.94 lakh for the 35 TDI (diesel) Technology, all prices ex-showroom, India. Sales for the 2019 model year Audi A4 in Germany will begin from next month. However, the Audi A4 is assembled in India and bringing updated kits for CKD operation will not be as quick as the European rollouts, hence, the India launch is expected sometime in 2019. When launched, Audi A4 will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and Jaguar XE in India. Stay tuned to for further updates on the 2019 India- bound Audi A4.

    Though the upcoming sedan gets cosmic updates, it will continue to get the same 1.4-litre petrol capable of 148 bhp and 250 Nm along with the 2-litre diesel engine with 188 bhp of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come mated to a seven speed automatic gearbox in the Indian market. Internationally, it will be available with both all-wheel-drive Quattro and front wheel drive while models in India will continue to get the front wheel drive package.
