German luxury automaker BMW has revealed the M5 Competition as the most powerful and focused M5 ever built. Though few details about the BMW M5 Competition had already been leaked online earlier but it definitely takes the new all-wheel drive BMW M5 to another performance level. The newly revealed luxurious sedan will be available from July 2018 and will be available in USA, UK, Germany, Japan and Canada.
Sneaking at the performance of the upcoming BMW M5 Competition, the sedan will come powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine that produces maximum power of 625 bhp and peak torque of 750 Nm. The engine has the capacity to reach the sprint of 0 to 100 kmph in mere 3.3 seconds; however the 0 to 200 kmph can be done by the engine in 10.8 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds quicker than in the standard version of the new BMW M5. While the top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph out of the factory, with the optional M Driver's Package that figure increases to 305 kmph. The M5 Competition gets the M Sport exhaust system as standard that produces an extremely distinctive soundtrack while the black chrome embellisher of the tailpipe pair makes a great visual impression.
Talking about the design, styling and features, the BMW M5 Competition will be offered with high-gloss black accenting to the front end of the front grille along with the rear bumper covering. Other than this, it will also come with a color-coordinated composition with the tailpipes in black chrome, M5 badging is finished in high-gloss black and placed on the rear spoiler and boot lid, door openers painted entirely in body color and a host of details finished in high-gloss black, sporty black tone used for the mirror bases and mirror triangles, the exterior mirror caps and the mesh of the signature M gills in the front flanks along with exclusive M 20-inch light-alloy wheels sporting a Y-spoke design in a bi-color finish to conclude the designing at the exterior.
At the inside, the upcoming M5 Competition will come with black seat belts with striped pattern in BMW M GmbH colors and floor mats with model-specific piping with an 'M5' badging. Graphic on the instrument cluster once the driver turns on the ignition is another noticeable feature in the BMW M5 Competition. Other features include Merino Aragon full-leather upholstery, and 'aluminium carbon structure' interior trim with dark chrome accents.
According to BMW Australia, the M5 Competition sedan will arrive in Australia "in the second half of 2018", with full pricing and specifications to be revealed closer to launch. Though the German luxury automaker has launched the standard M5 at Rs 1.43 crore (ex-showroom, India), there is no confirmation if BMW will launch the M5 Competition in the country. Further launch details will be out as soon as the automaker makes an official announcement regarding it. If launched in India, the M5 Competition will rival the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4Matic+, has been brought to India and retails at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.5 crore.
