September 2023 Cars Sales Analysis - Sedan YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this September 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all sedans in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all sedans for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.

Sedan Sales

Sedans September 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change

  • The Dzire maintained its top spot among sedan sales in September 2023, and reported a drop of 44.57% in YoY comparison
  • It looks like even in the foreseeable future, the Dzire will remain the only sedan to achieve a 5-figure monthly sales figure as its sales in September is more than triple of the next best-selling car in the category, the Xcent/Aura pair
  • Among the mass-market sedans, the Slavia witnessed a 69% YoY gain, making it the top gainer
  • The other YoY gainers in the sedan category were Hyundai Verna with a 58% growth
  • The Tata Tigor was the top loser amongst the high-volume cars in the category with a 58.54% YoY decline in sales numbers
  • Among other mass market losers in the category, the City was the next top loser with around 53% decline in sales, followed by Amaze with around 37% YoY drop in numbers in September 2023
  • Skoda Superb and Skoda Octavia were discontinued over the past year

Sedan September 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change

  • Half the cars in the category saw a rise in the MoM comparison for September
  • The losers were (in decreasing order of decline percentage):
    • Tata Tigor (48% drop)
    • Honda Amaze (27.69% drop)
    • Hyundai Xcent/Aura (20.28% drop)
    • Volkswagen Virtus (16.31% drop)
    • Skoda Slavia (4.59% drop)
  • Among the high-volume cars listed here, Ciaz was the top gainer with 75.62% growth.
  • Talking about the MoM gainers in September, Camry was second on the the chart with a 43.09% rise, followed by the Honda City with a 7.03% gains
