    Skoda Kodiaq SUV launched in the Indian market starting at Rs. 34.5 lakhs

    Skoda Auto India has launched the highly awaited Skoda Kodiaq SUV. The Skoda Kodiaq is the first full-sized 7-seater SUV in the SUV market of India. The new Kodiaq has launched in India with a competitive price tag of Rs. 34,49,501 (price ex-showroom, across India). The Skoda Kodiaq will be rivaling with the likes of the highly established Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in this country.

The Skoda Kodiaq will be rivaling with the likes of the highly established Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in this country.

     

    Skoda is hoping to impress the Indian SUV buyers and eat into the demands of Fortuner and Endeavour with the new contemporary Kodiaq. The Skoda Kodiaq is a highly aggressive and imposing looking contemporary SUV. It is built on the same Volkswagen MQB platform which underpins the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Superb. The Kodiaq comes with a proper SUV appeal, but is very stylish and well proportionate. It offers a commanding road presence, which is one of the key buying points of the Indian SUV buyers.

    Here’s a detailed look at the just launched Skoda Kodiaq SUV:

     

    Exterior Styling

    The Skoda Kodiaq premium SUV’s exterior design is very bold and sporty. It flaunts a striking and distinctive wide 3D radiator grille that is flanked by sleek highly stylized raked headlights with full LED lighting technology for the first time. The SUV offers impressive side and rear profiles as well with well sculpted doors and tailgate. The LED split tail lights come in Skoda’s signature C-shape. Its alluring visual appeal is enhanced with its tapering roofline and large wheel arches which are fitted with 18 inch alloy wheels.

    When dimensions are concerned, the Skoda Kodiaq is 4,697 mm long, 1,882 mm wide and 1,676 mm tall, and rides on a wheelbase measuring 2,791 mm.

     

    Interiors & Features

    On the inside, the Skoda Kodiaq feels equally stylish and impressive. The SUV offers a spacious and comfortable cabin that is done in a nice dual-tone black-beige scheme. The cabin is laden with good features. It offers a good cargo area of 270 litres of boot space that can be expanded to a massive 630 liters and over 2,000 plus litres with its third and second row folded, respectively. The rear rows come with flexible 40:20:40 split and slide options and individually adjustable backrests.  The SUV offers a three-zone Climatronic system with a control panel for the rear seats. There is a large 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system along with SmartLink which offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink support. The SUV’s interior feels airier and more pleasant with the presence of a large power operated panoramic sunroof.

     

    Engines & Transmission

    Under the hood, the Skoda Kodiaq gets the same 2.0 litre engine that runs the Superb and Octavia. The 2.0L, 4 cylinder turbocharged diesel mill generates 150 PS of power and 340 Nm of torque and is paired with a 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmission gearbox. While the power figures might not sound powerful for a large SUV, but the Kodiaq really feels impressive to drive. The engine is very responsive and refined with no turbo-lag, while smooth shifting gearbox adds to the charm of the drive experience of the new Kodiaq.

    The Kodiaq is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 16.25 kmpl. The SUV can sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 10.1 seconds, and offers a top speed of 192 kmph. The SUV also comes with all-wheel drive system to offer traction and stability to take on rough and rugged terrains.

     

    Safety Features

    The Kodiaq comes with very impressive and advanced safety featutres. The SUV safety equipments includes 9 airbags and Multi-Collision Brake as standard, handsfree parking system with semi-autonomous technology, iBuzz Fatigue Alert that detects driver’s fatigue and alerts him/her, and more.
