Skoda Auto India has launched a pre-owned car business in India. It is currently available in nine cities only including Mumbai, Delhi (NCR), Coimbatore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Hyderabad, and Goa with the nationwide roll out scheduled for 2021.
Skoda says cars bought under the pre-owned business will be checked by trained professionals, across a set of more than 160 inspection points and when required the parts will be replaced by Skoda genuine parts. Along with Skoda cars, the carmaker will also buyback cars from other carmakers.
Skoda cars brought from Skoda 'Certified Pre-Owned' programme will be covered by manufacturer warranty for a duration of 2 years/150000km (whichever is earlier). Cars from other manufacturers,on the other hand, will be covered for just 1 year / 15000km (whichever is earlier). Along with warranty, customers will also be offered an exchange bonus if they choose to exchange their old cars for a new Skoda product. It will be offered to all buyers irrespective of the brand of the old car.
Skoda currently has only four cars in its portfolio including the Rapid, Octavia RS245, Superb and the recently launched Karoq. Skoda is also expected to launch the Kodiaq petrol in India soon. It will be followed by the launch of next-gen Octavia. Earlier the sedan was slated to go on sale by September 2020 but the launch was delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. Now, the next-gen Octavia will go on sale in early 2021. Skoda is also gearing up to launch the VisionIN-based sub-4m SUV in India and it is expected to debut by the second-half of 2021.
