The Nissan Leaf is the best selling electric car in the world, and the new-gen Leaf is even a bigger hit. In order to expand the popularity of the Leaf brand, the Japanese automaker has come up with the sportier version of the electric-hatchback, called the Leaf Nismo. The Nissan Leaf Nismo has been specifically tuned by the company’s motorsports and in-house tuning division to offer sportier performance. The Japanese carmaker first showcased the Leaf Nismo as a concept model in October, 2017, and now the production version has been revealed.
The performance centric new Nissan Leaf Nismo is a based on the second generation, which internationally debuted in September last year. The Leaf Nismo aims at offering a more engaging and fun drive experience and further highlight the fact that modern electric vehicles are not only green, but are also fun without actually being expensive. The Nismo badged electric car will get powered by the same 40kWh battery of the Leaf to juice up the alternating current synchronous electric motor. However, the sportier version will get endowed with custom tuning which is aimed at offering better performance. While the standard current-gen Leaf can do the 0 to 100kph sprint in just 7.9 seconds, the new Leaf Nismo is expected to reduce this time significantly.
The Leaf Nismo will also be packed with advanced and intelligent techs including the e-Pedal, which works both as a break and accelerator and the ProPilot Park autonomous driving functionalities, just like the standard Leaf model.
