    Tata Altroz Petrol To Get XM+ Variant Soon

    Tata will introduce a new XM+ variant on the Altroz hatchback. It will be slotted between the XM and XT variants and will be the sixth variant in the lineup. The Altroz is currently available in five variants: XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ(O).

    As the name suggests, the XM+ variant will be based on the XM variant but will get some additional features. Over the XM, the XM+ will get features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls and a remote foldable key. It will also get bigger 16-inch wheels replacing the 14-inch wheels found on the XM variant.

    Other features on the XM+ variant will remain similar to the XM. it gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, power windows, central locking, multiple driving modes, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, adjustable front headrest, manual AC and tilt-adjustable steering. 

    Compared to the XT, the XM+ will miss out on features likes mood lighting, parking camera, front fog lamps with cornering function, auto-dimming IRVM, push-button start and auto AC.

    Tata also offers the Altroz XM with some factory fitted accessory pack and they are priced at a premium of up to Rs 64,000 over the standard XM (depending on the package you opt for). There are two packs on offer: Rhytm and Style, priced at Rs 39,000 and Rs 34,000, respectively. If you decide to take both packs, you will have to pay a total of Rs 64,000 over the XM variant. That said, expect the XM+ to attract a premium of up to Rs 40,000 over the XM variant. 

    Initially, Tata is expected to launch the Altroz XM+ with a petrol engine only. It will be powered a 1.2-litre engine making 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque mated to 5-speed manual transmission. A diesel engine is expected to be on offer at a later stage. The Altroz diesel gets a 1.5-litre engine making 90PS and 200Nm mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. 

    The Altroz XM+ petrol is expected to go on sale in the coming few weeks before Diwali while the diesel XM+ will is likely to debut by December 2020. Tata is also expected to launch the Altroz Turbo soon. Currently, the Altroz is priced from Rs 5.44 lakh to Rs 9.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It competes with likes of the Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and the upcoming new Hyundai i20 which will go on sale on 5 November 2020.
