Tata Motors Sells Over 50,000 Nexon Units In India
After achieving the highest one month sales record for Tata Tiago in August 2018, the automaker has now hit a new milestone by selling 50,000 units of Nexon compact SUV in the country. Tata Motors had launched the Nexon in the country on 21st September 2017 and the compact SUV has achieved the milestone within a year of its launch. The vehicle is priced from Rs 6.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Tata Motors had launched the AMT version of the Nexon few months before from Rs 7.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
According to the reports, the Nexon compact SUV sells 4,088 units of the Nexon on a monthly average making it around 136 units daily. Considering the fact that the compact-SUV market is dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, these numbers are quite impressive for the Nexon. The SUV has been customer’s favorite since its launch as it crossed the 10,000-unit milestone within two and half months of its launch in the country. Later, the 25,000th Tata Nexon rolled out from the brand's manufacturing facility in Pune in February 2018 and a few months ago, the automaker rolled out the 50,000th Nexon from the plant.
Under the hood, the Tata Nexon is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. While the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit makes 108 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, the 1.5-litre diesel motor churns out 108 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come mated to either a 6-speed manual or an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearbox.
In terms of features, the Nexon offers a Harman-sourced 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and an 8-speaker sound system (4 speakers + 4 tweeters), multiple drive modes (Eco, City and Sport), projector headlamps with daytime running lights and automatic climate control with rear AC vents. It comes standard with dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and ABS with EBD and CSC (corner stability control). The Tata Nexon offers a ground clearance of 209 mm and has a boot space of 350 litres. The vehicle has also scored an impressive four-star rating in Global NCAP safety tests. The Tata Nexon is available in six variants: XE, XM, XMA, XT, XZ, XZ+, XZ+ dual-tone and XZA+.;
Other than the standard Nexon, Tata Motors has launched the special edition of the Nexon as new KRAZ Edition priced at Rs 7.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The launch marks the 1st anniversary of the Nexon brand in India. Based on the Nexon XT trim, the Tata Nexon Kraz is pronounced as ‘craze’ and has been offered in two variants- Kraz and Kraz+. Being a limited edition car, the 2018 Nexon Kraz gets 10 exterior and interior updates as compared to that is seen on the standard Nexon model. The updates include a new color scheme of Tromso Black with a sonic silver roof as well as new Neo-Green colored ORVMs, wheel accent and front grille along with Neo-green seat stitch with Kraz pattern for seat cushions, piano black dashboard with neo-green air vent surrounds, door and console finishers, steering accents and central control badging while the ‘Kraz’ or ‘Kraz+’ moniker has been be displayed on boot lid of the car.
Also, a sportier version of the compact-SUV, the Tata Nexon JTP is also under the works. The Tata Nexon rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V, Mahindra TUV300, Ford Freestyle and NuvoSport.
