Tata Motors has yet again achieved a new milestone by rolling out the 10000th unit of the Nexon from their manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. The compact crossover SUV was launched on September 21, 2017 and is available at a starting price of Rs 5.85 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi and goes all the way up to 9.45 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. Available in 5 variants and 2 engine options, Tata Nexon has achieved this milestone within three months of its launch.
The 2017 Tata Nexon comes powered by an all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine with an output of 108 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. There’s also a petrol 1.2-litre Revotron unit churning out 108 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. Currently, both the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, an AMT version is in the process for the near future.
Nexon compact SUV is the fourth product from Tata Motors based on the Impact design language. While the headlight units feature projector lamps and DRLs, the tail light is an LED unit. At the front, the car comes with muscular bulges, but the rear sports a very hatchback-like look. However, the sides look masculine with its 200mm ground clearance and 16-inch wheels wrapped in 215-section tyres. Eight speaker Harman 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, voice commands, message readout and reply, front centre armrest with sliding tambour door storage, Smart key with push-button start (wearable wristband) etc are the other highlights of the Tata Nexon.
The new Tata Nexon is available with a total of five color options - Moroccan blue, Vermont red, Seattle silver, Glasgow grey and Calgary white and competes against the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. Also, the automaker has recently announced plans of doubling the production of the SUV to meet the rising demand. The waiting period at Tata dealerships across the country have close to three months for Nexon with 15,000 bookings already. Hence, with the increased production, the company plans to attend these bookings in the coming six weeks.
