Tata Sierra Gets 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating | V3Cars

The Tata Sierra has secured a 5-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests. The SUV scored 31.14 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 44.72 out of 49 points for child occupant protection.

Tata Sierra Secures 5-Star BNCAP Rating

Although the Accomplished Plus and Adventure Plus diesel variants were used for the evaluation, the crash test results apply to all variants of the Sierra.

Tata Sierra Adult Occupant Protection 

In the frontal offset crash test, the Sierra offered good protection to most critical body areas, including the head, neck and lower body regions. Protection for the chest and lower legs was rated adequate, indicating minor room for improvement.

In side impact assessments, including the movable deformable barrier and pole test, the SUV delivered consistent protection levels, with key areas such as the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis rated well. The vehicle also received an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole impact test.

Tata Sierra Child Occupant Protection

The Tata Sierra performed strongly in child safety tests, achieving a near-perfect dynamic score of 23.73 out of 24 and a full 12 out of 12 in CRS (child seat) installation.

Both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies, positioned in rear-facing child seats, showed excellent protection in crash simulations. The SUV lost some points in the vehicle assessment category, resulting in a total of 44.73 points.

The Tata Sierra is priced from Rs. 11.49 lakh to Rs. 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with popular C-segment SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
