Indian auto major Tata Motors has now launched the electric version of its subcompact sedan, the Tigor EV for private buyers in the domestic car market of India. The Tata Tigo EV was previously only available on a self-driving car rental lease basis.
The Tigor EV is available for sale in two trim levels, namely - XM and XT. The commercial buyers who can take the benefit of the FAME2 benefit, the XM variant is tagged at Rs. 9.99 lakhs, while the XT variant has been priced at Rs. 10.09 lakhs. Due to the government’s FAME2 subsidy, the Tigor EV’s original prices have been slashed by a good Rs. 1.62 lakh. The electric sedan is also available with a 3-year or 1.25 lakh kilometer warranty to offer great peace of mind to the buyers.
The private car buyers won’t be able to get their hands on the Tata Tigor EV just as yet, but even when they can the government subsidy will not be available for them.
Under the hood, the Tata Tigor EV gets equipped with a 72V, 3-Phase AC induction electric motor that is capable of generating maximum power of 41 PS and a peak torque of 105 Nm. The car can reach the speed level of 60 km per hour from a standstill position in just 12 seconds, while it can offer a top speed of 80 km per hour as per Tata Motors.
The electric motor of the sedan gets juiced up by a 16.2 kWh battery pack that offers a travel range of 142 km per full charge. This battery can be charged to up to 80 percent of its total capacity in 6 hours with a regular charger or in just 1.5 hours with the help of a fast charger. On the whole, in terms of the performance and travel range, the Tigor EV is perfect for daily travel within the city limits.
The Tata Tigor EV also comes braced with good features. Some of the standard features of the EV are automatic climate control, height adjustable driver's seat and a premium Harman music system. The top XT variant adds 14-inch alloy wheels and electrically adjustable and fordable ORVMS to the package.
