Tata Motors has reduced prices of the Tigor EV in the light of lowered GST on electric cars. The Tigor EV used to start from Rs 12.35 lakh earlier, but from August 2019, it would start from Rs 11.58 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai). As of now, Tigor EV is the only electric car on sale from Tata in India. The carmaker has plans to add three new electric cars for private buyers, two of which will be the electric versions of Nexon and the upcoming Altroz hatchback.
Prices of all variants of the Tigor EV have been lowered. Its top variant, which used to cost Rs 12.71 lakh earlier is now priced at Rs 11.92 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, Mumbai). The prices mentioned above do not include any incentive that’s on offer from the government. Take into account those incentives, and the Tigor EV’s top XT variant costs Rs 11.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The reduction in price of Tigor EV is a result of lowered GST on electric cars. Previously, GST rate on EVs was 12%, and now it has been reduced to 5%. Apart from the Tigor EV, we expect the price of the Kona Electric and Mahindra eVerito to come down as well.
