The Tata Tigor petrol has the following shortcomings or problems:
The Tata Tigor has a starting price of Rs. 6.0 lakh for the XM and the price range stretches up to Rs. 8.50 lakh for the XZ Plus Lux petrol-manual range. The petrol-automatic powertrain is available in the XT, XZ Plus and XZ Plus Lux variants for an additional Rs. 55,000. These 3 variants cost Rs. 7.25 lakh, Rs. 7.85 and Rs. 8.45 lakh, respectively.

The base model of the Tata Tigor is only available with a petrol-manual powertrain and costs Rs. 6.0 lakh. The XM variant gets some notable features like:

In the base variant misses out on some key features like:
The base model of the Tigor petrol doesn’t get several must-have features. Moreover, the higher variants offer better value for money while offering a bunch of must-have features. So, we can’t recommend the Tigor petrol base model.
The Tata Tigor XT is available with manual and automatic transmission options. It costs Rs. 6.70 lakh with the petrol-manual, Rs. 7.25 lakh with the AMT automatic. The XT variant is Rs. 70,000 more expensive than the XM. For Tigor automatic buyers, this is the most affordable variant.

Even in this variant, you might miss features like:
The XT trim of the Tigor petrol adds a bunch of must-have features but it doesn’t justify the incremental asking price of Rs. 70,000 for them. So, we’ll suggest you skip this variant also and buy a higher variant.
The Tata Tigor XZ costs Rs. 7.30 lakh with the petrol-manual and Rs. 7.85 lakh with the petrol-automatic. These prices are exactly Rs. 60,000 more than the XM.

In this variant, you might miss features like:
The XZ variant is worth buying as it gets most of the must-have features for the asking price. However, you should buy it only if you hate one or more of the features of the higher XZ Plus variant or don’t want to stretch your budget any further. Because the higher XZ variant not only justifies the price gap over the base model completely, it also adds more must-have features that are difficult to install post purchase. Hence, the XZ Plus is our top recommendation for Tigor petrol-manual and petrol-automatic buyers.
The Tata Tigor XZ Plus variant costs Rs. 7.90 lakh with the petrol-manual and Rs. 8.45 lakh with the automatic. The XZ Plus is Rs. 60,000 more expensive than the Tigor XZ and the AMT automatic adds another Rs. 55,000 to the ex-showroom price.

In this variant, you might miss features like:
The XZ Plus adds several must-have features while offering a ~100% VFM score with manual as well as automatic transmission. This variant earns our top recommendation for 2025 Tigor petrol-manual as well as automatic buyers.
The top-spec Tata Tigor XZ Plus Lux variant costs Rs. 8.50 lakh with the petrol-manual. The XZ Plus Lux variant is not available with the automatic transmission. The XZ Plus Lux is also Rs. 60,000 more expensive than the Tigor XZ Plus.

In the XZ Plus Lux top model of the 2025 Tata Tigor, we get the following additional features:
Even in the top variant, you may miss a feature like:
Besides the alloy wheels, none of the features are of low functional value. 360 camera may be a moderate value addition for some buyers but TPMS is certainly a must-have. So, even the top model is offering fantastic feature distribution reserving good-to-have. On the value for money front, the top model justifies the price gap over the base model. This variant is worth buying if you want these features. But the lower XZ Plus remains our top recommendation as the XZ Plus Lux doesn’t add enough must-have features. You can install alloy wheels later from the aftermarket or buy them later from the dealer.
Unlike Tata cars of 2024 and before, the buying recommendation for the Tigor petrol is pretty straightforward. The base model is not recommended as it doesn’t get a few must-have features. Moreover, Tata are adding mostly must-have features in XT, XZ and XZ Plus variants. So, you can pick either of these and you won’t be paying for good-to-have features just to have a few must-have features.
However, because of the poor value for money score, we wont recommend the upgrade to XT either. The upgrade to XZ is only Rs. 60,000 and it will offer far superior value for money.
But, if you can stretch just a bit more, the XZ Plus, which costs another Rs. 60,000 is our top recommendation. It offers most of the must-have features we expect from a car at this price point while completely justifying the price gap over the base model with additional features.
From there, the top model is worth buying from a value perspective but it doesn’t add enough must-have features to warrant an upgrade.
The recommendations for TIgor petrol-automatic buyers is also the same. XT is not recommended, XZ is worth buying but XZ Plus is an easy recommendation.

Just like most of its rivals, the Tigor petrol also gets a 1.2L normal petrol engine, which makes 86PS of power and 113Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission. With the manual, it promises to deliver a mileage of 19.93kmpl and 19.28kmpl with the automatic. All of these specs are on par with most of its rivals. Only the Aura and Dzire manage to beat the Tigor petrol’s mileage figures. Meanwhile, the Amaze beats the Tigor on the power and torque figures.
