Teased: India-bound 2019 Audi Q3 Officially
German luxury automaker Audi has officially released a teaser of the 2019 Q3 ahead of its debut on 25th July. The manufacturer has been testing its new generation Q3 for quite some time now and Audi had announced in November 2017 that it will roll out a new model every three weeks in 2018. However, till now the manufacturer has stayed up to its promise with the reveal of the flagship A8, updated A4, new-gen A6, A1 and A7, refreshed TT and the all-new Q8 and the automaker has finally given a glimpse of how the next generation of the SUV will look like in a teaser video ahead of its world debut.
According to the teaser video, the new Q3 gets a new design language which is based on Audi’s flagship SUV Q8. The front gets new grille from Q8 along with sporty bumper and completely new LED headlamps with integrated DRLs. The automaker has also placed mirrors on door instead of pillar like current model as it will improve the aerodynamics as well. Though, the sides of the Q3 continues to be an evolution of first generation but the rear will be completely new with stylish looking LED tail lamps and a new bumper with fake exhaust vents to give it a sporty feel.
The current generation Q3 has been on sale since 2011 and the model had received a facelift couple of years ago. However, it is not helping much to the existing Q3 as competitors have already moved to newer generations. The upcoming Audi Q3 will be available with a number of changes to give a good competition to others in the segment. The second generation Q3 will be based on MQB platform in order to make the new model be lighter than outgoing version. Also, the new Q3 will be longer, wider and shorter than outgoing model.
At the inside, the 2019 Audi Q3 will be based on the same design language as current generation Audi models but it is expected to miss out on fancy dual screen like those on A6 and A8. However, instead of these, the Q3 will come with new 12.3 inch fully digital instrument cluster with Audi’s Virtual Cockpit display. Also instead of the tablet like screen for MMI system in other Audi models, with the new Q3 it will be integrated into the centre console. Audi will also give 8 inch touch screen for MMI system with latest software and graphics and with Q3 it will come with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with wireless charging and high end audio system.;
Mechanically, the next generation Audi Q3 is expected to come powered by the existing 1.5-liter TSI and a 2.0 TDI in different states of tune, while a more potent SQ3 will surely follow and a plug-in hybrid is also expected later. The engines will be mated to automatic transmission with Quattro all-wheel drive system. The luxury vehicle is also expected to be offered with several modern and advanced safety features.
When launched, the second generation Audi Q3 will continue to rival the updated BMW X1, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLA as well as the Volvo XC40 and the all-new Jaguar E-Pace. In the Indian market, Audi is expected to launch the next-gen Q3 sometime in 2019.
