Feature Upgrades

The LWB AWD variant also gets several premium additions:

Chassis & Ride Enhancements

Tesla have also upgraded the suspension setup in the new variant:

  • Advanced multilink suspension with electronic continuously variable damping
  • Drive modes for better adaptability

In comparison, the RWD variants get frequency-dependent damping without electronic adjustability.

Features & Interior

Like the other variants, the new Model Y LWB AWD continues to offer a minimalist yet tech-heavy cabin. Notably, the Model Y Long Wheelbase AWD variant offers 6 seats over the 5-seater layout of the other variants. This is achieved by offering captain seats in the 2nd row and adding a 2-seater bench seat behind it.

Other key features include:

  • 15.3-inch central touchscreen
  • Rear 8-inch touchscreen for passengers
  • Panoramic glass roof
  • Ambient lighting
  • Powered, heated and ventilated seats
  • Tesla Autopilot (optional)

Positioning & Rivals

Despite being a full import, the Tesla Model Y continues to target the premium EV segment in India. The addition of an AWD variant strengthens its appeal against rivals like the Kia EV6, Volvo C40 Recharge and the BYD Sealion 7.

With added features, improved ride tech and the longest claimed range among the 3 Model Y variants, this new model could emerge as the most well-rounded option for buyers looking at a premium electric SUV.
