    The upcoming new Tata Tigor – all you need to know

    The upcoming Tata Kite 5 compact sedan model has been in news for quite some time now. The Tiago hatchback based compact sedan model has been known by its codename Kite 5 and there have been a lot of speculations regarding its actual market name post launch. Indian auto major, Tata Motors has finally put an end to all these speculations by revealing the official name of the Kite-5. Tata Motors has christened the car as the Tata Tigor.

    The Tata Tigor Styleback will be introducing a radically new silhouette in the segment that primarily has models with boxy design. The Tigor Styleback is expected to be a game changer in the compact sedan market of India and allure the buyers. It will offer an unparallel amalgamation of style and practicality.


    The upcoming new Tigor sedan will be a sub-4 meter vehicle to avail the tax benefits that the small cars get in India. This subcompact sedan model will be 3995 mm long, 1647 mm wide and 1535 mm tall. The car will be coming riding on a wheelbase measuring 2450 mm.

    Engine & Transmission

    The new upcoming Tata Tigor compact sedan is based on Tiago compact hatchback and will be sharing its engine range that comprise of the 1.2 Liter Revotron petrol mill and the 1.05 Liter Revotorq diesel motor. The petrol engine is capable of churning out a max power output at 83 bhp along with a top torque of 114 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel engine is good to deliver a peak power output of 69 bhp and a peak torque of 140 Nm. Both the engine options will be coming paired with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. The Tigor is also expected to get AMT gearbox choice, but at a later date.

    Market Rivals

    The upcoming new Tigor will be rivaling some very popular car models in the compact sedan car market of India, which includes the all-time favorite as well as the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze and Volkswagen Ameo.


    The all new Tata Tigor compact sedan is expected to launch in the Indian car market with a competitive price range of around Rs. 4.5 lakhs to Rs 5.5 lakhs.
