No matter how much change the car market of the world is experiencing, the hatchbacks are certainly here to stay. The same is very true when the Indian car market is concerned. Earlier this year, the car market of India has already seen some important hatchback launches including the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift, the updated Hyundai Elite i20 and the new Mini Countryman. Year 2018 certainly has many more hatchback launches to offer.

Ford Figo facelift
The Ford Figo hatchback along with its sedan twin Aspire is readying to come in its facelift avatar. The Figo facelift has been spied quite a few times. The updated Figo will get cosmetic updates in the form of a new grille, bigger new headlights and restyled front and rear bumpers. The tail lights would get new LED elements.
On the inside, there will Ford’s latest SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support along with other slight changes.
The Figo facelift will get the new 1.2L Dragon petrol mill replacing the existing petrol unit that generates 96 PS of power and 120 Nm of torque. The diesel version will continue with the same 1.5L oil burner from the outgoing model.
The Ford Figo facelift is expected to launch in India is the June-July period and is likely to cost at around Rs. 4.75 lakhs onwards.
2. Tata Tiago JTP
The Tata Tiago JTP (Jayem Tata Performance) version grabbed the attention at the 2018 Auto Expo. This hot version of the successful Tata Tiago will get more power and sporty design updates.
In terms of visual appeal, the Tiago JTP flaunts black honeycomb grille with JTP logo, smoked projector headlamps and 15 inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. There are sporty red highlights accents on wing mirrors, instrument cluster, AC vents and door panels.
It gets powered by the 1.2L turbocharged petrol mill from the Nexon that offers 110 PS 150 Nm. The hot hatch is expected to launch sometime in the August-September period, with an estimated price tag of Rs. 7 lakhs.
3. All new Hyundai Santro
Hyundai India is all set to resurrect the hugely popular Santro nameplate in India in an all-new avatar. The next generation Hyundai Santro is expected to replace the Eon entry-level hatchback.
The new Santro will be reminiscent of the Grand i10, but not many details about it are available. It is expected to get powered by the 1.1L petrol mill from the i10 that delivers 69 PS of power, while an AMT gearbox is also expected.
The new-gen Santro is likely to come during the festive season this year with an expected price tag of Rs. 3.5 lakhs onwards.
4. Datsun Go facelift
The updated Datsun Go is also expected to launch here this year. It will get a new grille, revised headlights, new LED DRLs, restyled front and rear bumpers, ORVMs with integrated blink signals and a large rear spoiler.
Its features will include all-black upholstery, new 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment among some more mild changes.
The Go facelift will continue with the same 1.2L petrol mill, but will get a CVT gearbox.
It is expected to launch in India towards the end of this year, and is likely to have a starting price of around Rs. 3.5 lakhs.
