The highly awaited Mercedes-Benz A-Class L sedan finally broke its covers at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show. The German luxury auto major has only introduced the long-wheelbase (L) model of the new A-Class for the car market of China, while the new A-Class model is expected to hit the car markets of Europe in the latter half of the current calendar year. The Mercedes A-Class L sedan model is slated to officially go on sale in China in the second half of this year.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class shares its design cues with the new generation A-Class hatchback version which was displayed in February this year. The sedan is reminiscent of the new CLS, and also seems to be a slashed down version of the same to some extent
When the external visual appeal is concerned, the sedan model flaunts the same diamond studded grille styling and bold, sharply styled LED headlights along with eyebrow shaped LED daytime running lights. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class L sedan also comes with a set of sporty twin 5-spoke alloy wheels which are available in 16 to 19 inch versions. The car comes with new sleek looking wing mirrors along with integrated LED turn signal lights, blackened B-pillar, a prominent waistline and sloping roofline.
When dimensions are concerned, the China specific A-Class L sedan measures 4609 mm long, 1796 mm wide and 1460 mm tall. The long-wheelbase model rides on a wheelbase that is 60 mm longer at 2789 mm as compared against the 2729 mm wheelbase of the hatchback model. The extended is aimed at offering enhanced knee space for the rear passengers. The model’s boot capacity stands at 420 litres.
The cabin of A-Class sedan is almost identical to the hatchback version. It has a stylish dashboard, bigger all-digital instrument cluster and fully-digital infotainment system. The dashboard houses the patent rotor-like chrome air-conditioner vents, centre console with a royal look of piano black finish and a multi-functional new steering wheel.
The new A-Class also features the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system that boasts of artificial intelligence. This system comes packed with WeChatMyCar app along with features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto connectivity and wireless charging areas for smartphones.
In China, the new A-Class L sedan comes equipped with a new all-aluminium 1.33L 4-cylinder mill that is available in two states of tune - 134 bhp and 161 bhp. The sedan also comes with a 2L 4-cylinder engine choice that generates 188 bhp of power. Both the motors get paired with a sophisticated 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission.
The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class L sedan model is being exclusively manufactured at Beijing Benz Automotive, which is a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz’s parent company Daimler and Chinese automaker BAIC Motor.
