Top 7 Things To Know About Upcoming MG Windsor EV Pro (Guesstimate) | V3Cars
As we get closer to the launch and reveal of the upcoming Windsor EV Pro from MG Motor, information is getting easier to come by. Based on the recently revealed information, here’s everything new we think the new Windsor Pro will bring.

1. Bigger Battery (& Longer Range)
So far, whenever MG decide to bring an EV from their international portfolio to India, they never bring the largest battery option. They did that with the Comet EV, which sells in certain markets as Wuling Air EV also gets a 26.7kWh battery option. But what do we get? 17.3kWh battery pack.
Same with the ZS EV, which also gets a 72.6kWh battery pack option but we get 50.3kWh pack.
Same with the Windsor EV, which sells in other markets as Wuling Cloud EV or Baojun Yunduo, gets the 50.6kWh option while we got it with the smaller 37.9kWh battery pack.
MG are fixing this pain point, and for the first time, bringing the largest battery pack for one of their EVs. The Windsor EV Pro will get the 50.6kWh battery pack, which is the largest one available for the car in other markets.
Naturally, with the bigger battery pack, the Windsor will also get a longer range. The Comet has a claimed range of 230km, the Windsor’s figure is around 330km and we expect the Windsor Pro to have a range of 430km.
With the Windsor base battery pack, we get a real-world range of 250-280km as the baseline. With conservative driving style, it’s — kinda — possible to hit the claimed figure of 332km. With similar assumptions in deviation from claimed range figure, we can expect the Windsor Pro to deliver 320-350km of real-world range.
2. Faster Charging
With larger battery also comes waiting while you’re at a charging stop. So, we can expect the Windsor Pro with larger battery pack to have faster charging capabilities. The 38kWh variants can charge at peak speeds of around 45kW DC. For the 50.6kWh battery pack, we can expect the speeds to go as high as 60kW DC, which is enough to keep the charging duration unchanged even with the larger battery pack.
3. ADAS Features
The ADAS features are also available with the Baojun Yunduo in the Chinese markets and finally, the Indian audience will also get them in the Windsor. The car may not get an ADAS kit as elaborate and as advanced as that of the Mahindra EVs, but you can expect at least some features such as:
- Lane keep assist
- Lane departure warning
- Lane follow assist
- Forward collision avoidance assist
- Forward collision warning
- Adaptive cruise control

4. Power Tailgate (w/ Gesture Control)
Another feature, which the Windsor gets in foreign markets is the powered tail gate. This will also come in the Windsor Pro with handsfree open or gesture control.
5. New Alloy Wheel Design
Now, this is a feature, which may be specific to the Indian market. The current design of the alloy wheels looks bland as wheel covers. We expect the new design to be a fair bit more flashier than before exclusively for the Pro variants.
6. New Top Variant
All of these features will come loaded in a new top variant, which will sit above the current lineup of 3 trims. It’s unclear though, if the larger battery pack option will also be optional for the Exclusive & Essence variants as well.
7. Tinted Windows (Fingers Crossed)
The Windsor’s windows are currently fully transparent with not even a bit of tinting.
While we can’t confirm this bit, we expect MG to fix this issue at least for the Exclusive and higher variants along with the launch of the Windsor Pro. Since this car wasn’t designed specifically for the Indian market, the clear windows don’t pose a problem. However, in the hot and humid Indian climate, this is a big deal breaker. Try sitting in the Windsor on a hot day with the sun directly hitting your skin. Even with the AC on full blast, you’ll know what we mean when you feel the harsh sunlight on your skin.
