Japanese automaker Toyota has silently launched a new Etios Platinum Limited Edition in the Indian market. The newly launched limited edition Toyota Etios is available on the VX variant priced at Rs 7.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol version, while the diesel version is priced at Rs 8.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Platinum limited edition version offers additional features without any changes in the mechanics. However, the Platinum edition is limited to the Etios sedan only and is not offered on the Etios Liva hatchback by the automaker.
At the exterior, the newly launched Toyota Etios Platinum Limited Edition gets the new Phantom Brown color scheme, as well as the option of Pearl White color scheme from the standard version while the interior of the sedan sports new dual-tone upholstery to meet the exterior colour, along with a new pattern for the armrest. Apart from this, the addition of a 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, in addition to voice recognition and remote control is the main highlight of the Platinum limited edition. However, the infotainment system does not get Android Auto or Apple CarPlay connectivity. The sedan had received an update last year, hence there are no cosmetic changes to the car.
Mechanically, the sedan doesn’t get any updates on the limited edition Etios. The sedan continues to come powered by the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is tuned for 89 bhp and 132 Nm of peak torque while the diesel variant gets the 1.4-litre four-cylinder D-4D motor with 67 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. The transmission duties are carried out by the same 5-speed manual gearboxes.
This Platinum limited edition Toyota Etios has been introduced in order to boost the sales of the sedan in the country. Also, the automaker is preparing to launch the Yaris sedan in the Indian market this May. The sedan was showcased at the recently concluded 2018 Auto Expo in the country. To be available only with a petrol unit, bookings for the Yaris will commence sometime in March, 2018. The Yaris is expected to be priced close to Rs 10 lakh and will take on cars such as the Honda City, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna. Stay tuned to V3cars.com for further updates.
