Now, the massively successful Toyota Fortuner premium SUV has achieved the very significant sales milestone of 1 lakh units in India. Crossing the sales mark of 1 lakh units is also a huge feat in the premium SUV segment of India, as the models in this segment are expensive and not mass volume drawers.
The dashing Toyota Fortuner SUV’s journey in India started back in 2009 when it became an instant success and segment ruler. This massive milestone has only strengthened the SUV’s segment leadership, while its new generation model is already here to ensure that the model doesn’t face the heat from market rivals anymore.
The second generation Toyota Fortuner premium SUV had a very late Indian launch in early November, 2016. However, its arrival has nonetheless proved to be highly beneficial to the brand, as it is generating great selling. While speaking on the Fortuner crossing the sales milestone of 1 lakhs, the Director and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales at TKM, Mr. N. Raja said that it is a huge achievement for the company to be able to serve over one lakh happy customers in this premium and highly competitive segment. This is only because of the customers’ huge support and their great appreciation of the product.
The all new Toyota Fortuner is better premium SUV than its predecessor from all aspects. It is based on a new TNGA platform which is stronger, new sleek premium design language, more up-class interiors with premium materials, a long list of features and new engines. The new-gen model also gets a new stiffer monocoque suspension for a better planted ride. The all new Fortuner has grown in size and offers a more massive road stance while offering a sleeker and more stylish visual appeal at the same time. Its new 2.8L diesel engine motor offers 173bhp and 420Nm and is equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission, while its 2.7L petrol mill generates 162bhp and 245Nm.
With such all encompassing huge improvements, the new Fortuner will be carrying forward the great success of its predecessor undoubtedly. The Fortuner’s rivals in India include the new Ford Endeavor, Hyundai Santa Fe and the Chevrolet Trailblazer.
