Toyota have released the first teaser for the upcoming Urban Cruiser EV ahead of its launch later this year. Based on the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the Urban Cruiser EV will offer a similar design to the near-production concept SUV that was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.

We expect Toyota to release more teasers for the Urban Cruiser up until its official launch. In this article, we will take a look at all the details Toyota have revealed via the teasers:

2026 Toyota Urban Cruiser EV Teased For The First Time

The first-ever teaser for the India-spec Urban Cruiser EV showcases the electric SUV’s sculpted bonnet along with its slim LED headlights and LED DRLs. It also shows the charging port with a ‘BEV’ badge on the front fender.

Other details remain scarce at the moment. However, since the Urban Cruiser EV is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti e Vitara, we expect it to offer similar features to Maruti’s first-ever EV for India. Hence, we can expect it to offer a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a fixed glass roof. In terms of safety, expect 6 airbags and 360-degree camera as standard, while the top variants will offer Level-2 ADAS.

As for the electric motor and battery specs, the Urban Cruiser EV is expected to share the same 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options as the Maruti electric SUV. So far, Maruti have claimed that the 61kWh battery pack gives the e Vitara a range of 543km per charge. The front-mounted electric motor in the e Vitara produces 144PS and 170PS with the 49kWh and 61kWh batteries, respectively.

Since the Urban Cruiser EV is a badge-engineered version of the Maruti e Vitara, it is expected to cost slightly more than the latter. So we wouldn’t be surprised if the Urban Cruiser EV is priced from Rs. 19 lakh to Rs. 23 lakh (ex-showroom).

When launched, the Urban Cruiser EV will not only rival its Maruti cousin but also take on the Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6 and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV.
