It is worth noting that Toyota will offer a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed torque converter automatic in all the variants of the Urban Cruiser. From the looks of it, it will be safe to assume that the Urban Cruiser’s three variants will be an equivalent of the Brezza’s VXI, ZXI & ZXI+.
The Urban Cruiser will get the same powertrain as the Brezza. The 1.5-litre petrol engine will develop 105PS of maximum power and 138Nm of peak torque. It will be available with mild-hybrid tech on the variants with automatic transmission, like the Brezza.
The Urban Cruiser will sport a unique front-end design and will get a brown interior theme. It will also be on offer with a brown exterior colour that is not on offer on the Brezza. However, it won’t be available in the red colour option which is available on the Brezza. Orange with white roof dual-tone exterior colour on offer on the Urban Cruiser is not available on the Brezza, while grey with orange roof dual-tone paint is exclusive to the Brezza.
The Urban Cruiser will enter an already packed B2-SUV segment when it launches in India. Apart from the Brezza, it will compete against Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. We expect it to be priced upwards of Rs 8.5 lakh. Pre-launch bookings of the Urban Cruiser are underway.
