Toyota Yaris Details Revealed Ahead Of Launch

Toyota is all set to launch the Yaris sedan next month on 18th May and the details about the variants and features had been leaked on the internet recently. However, the automaker has now officially revealed the detailed specifications including dimensions, engine output and claimed fuel efficiency of the sedan ahead of its launch. The authorized dealerships of the company have already started taking advanced bookings of the upcoming Yaris at a token amount ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
Talking about the engine specifications, the 2018 Yaris will come with only one petrol engine in India. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine will be offered to produce 105 Bhp of maximum power and 140 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed CVT and the AMT will also be available on the Yaris from the base J variant onwards. However, the steering-mounted paddle shifters will be available on the top VX variant only. The engine will return a fuel efficiency of 17.1 kmpl for the manual and 17.8 kmpl for the CVT variants.
Moving ahead, in terms of dimension the upcoming Toyota Yaris will measure 4,425mm in length, 1730 mm in width, 1495 mm in height with 2550 mm wheelbase and the boot capacity of 476 litres. Looking at the dimension, the India spec Yaris will be as long and wide as it is in Singapore that was launched last year. However, the Indian version of Yaris will be taller by 20 mm than the Singapore version.
The most important is the list of features to be offered with the new Toyota Yaris. The sedan will be available in four variants, namely J, G, V and VX and with six exterior color options including Super White, White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, Grey Metallic, Wildfire Red and Phantom Brown.

2018 Toyota Yaris J
The base variant J of Toyota Yaris will be offered with Projector Headlamps, Audio system with CD, MP3, Aux-in, Bluetooth connectivity and 4-speakers, 60:40 rear split seats, Keyless entry, Tilt steering, Power windows, ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake force distribution), BA (brake assist), Central locking and 7 airbags for driver, passenger + driver, knee + side + curtain. Looking at the features, it is clear that the automaker has focused mainly on the improvement of safety equipments even in the base variant which makes it quite competitive in the segment.
2018 Toyota Yaris G
This variant comprises of all the features of the base variant J along with a host of additional features including Steering-mounted audio controls, Automatic climate control, Electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs with turn indicators, 7-inch infotainment system with gesture control, Instrument cluster with TFT display, Speed-sensing auto door lock, Impact-sensing door unlock, Rear parking sensors, Front and rear fog lamps, Rear defogger, Roof-mounted rear AC vents, Push-button start with smart entry and Acoustic and vibration control glass.

This variant offers a number of additional features along with all the features of the G variant. The list includes LED rear combination lamps with line guide, Cruise control, Rain-sensing wipers, Rear parking sensors (4), Reverse camera, All-four disc brakes, Auto headlamps, Follow-me home headlamps and 6-speakers.
2018 Toyota Yaris VX
The top spec VX trim will be offered with all the features from the V trim and will also offer additional features such as 8-way power-adjustable driver seat height, Leather-wrapped seats and door trim, LED DRLs, Chrome door handles, MirrorLink, Wifi connectivity, Hill-start assist, Tyre pressure monitoring system and Vehicle stability control.
Though the upcoming sedan will come loaded with a number of features, there are some features that it misses out on but we expected it to offer 16-inch alloy wheels, telescopic steering wheel adjustment, sunroof, a diesel engine, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity and LED-powered headlamps. All these missed features are found with the rivals of 2018 Toyota Yaris in the country. Expected to be priced in the range of Rs 9.0 lakh to Rs 14.5 lakh in the country, when launched the all-new Toyota Yaris will take against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna.
