The Toyota Yaris will soon get a limited-run Black model. As the name suggests, it will be available in black exterior colour. The five changes that will differentiate it from the regular model will be chrome embellishments around the headlamps and tail lamps, ambient lighting in doors, dual-tone multi-spoke alloy wheels and beige-black seats. The standard Yaris is not available with the option of black exterior colour.
The limited-run model will get a beige interior only, and not an all-black cabin. It’s not clear yet whether the Yaris will be based on a higher variant or lower. Since the top V-Opt variant is available with leatherette seats, it’s likely that the special edition model will be based on some lower variant.
The Yaris is available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 107PS of power and 140Nm of peak torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. It remains to be seen if both the transmission options will be on offer on the Black Edition as well or not.
Expect the Black Edition to be priced at a slight premium over the variant on which it will be based. The price of the Yaris starts from Rs 8.86 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.4 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Yaris rivals the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento in the C-segment space.
