    The popular upcoming cars in September include Kia Sonet, Urban Cruiser and Skoda Rapid automatic. Check out the list of cars below to know the expected price, car image, launch date and launch possibility.

    Kia Sonet

    Kia Sonet

    Kia Sonet is a 5-seater B2-segment SUV that will come with three engine options: a 1.2-litre 83PS petrol engine, a 1.0-litre, 120PS turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre 100PS diesel engine. All the three engines will be offered with a manual transmission while the diesel and turbo-petrol engine option will also get an automatic gearbox. The Sonet is Kia’s third model in India after the Seltos and Carnival and its pre-launch bookings are already open. The Sonet racked up more than 6,500 bookings on the first day on which its bookings started. Expect a starting price of around Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). 

    Kia Sonet Competitors: The Kia Sonet will rival the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Honda WR-V, the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser and Nissan Magnite.

    Expected Price: Rs. 6.90 - 12.90 Lakh

    Toyota Urban Cruiser

    Urban Cruiser

    Toyota Urban Cruiser is a 5-seater B2-segment SUV that will come with a single engine option: 1.5-litre 105PS petrol engine. It will be offered with a manual and a 4-speed torque converter type automatic transmission. Urban Cruiser is the second shared model between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki in India after the Glanza. The Toyota Urban Cruiser’s pre-bookings commenced on August 22 for a token amount of Rs 11,000 (refundable). Expect a starting price of around Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

    The Toyota Urban Cruiser will rival the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Honda WR-V, the upcoming Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite.

    Expected Price: Rs. 8.25 - 11.00 Lakh

    Skoda Rapid Automatic

    Skoda Rapid

    Skoda Rapid is a 5 seater C-segment sedan that comes with a single engine option: 110PS 1.0-litre petrol engine. The new Skoda Rapid was launched in India in May 2020 along with the new Superb and Karoq SUV.  With the new 1.0L turbocharged engine, Rapid is limited to only a 6-speed manual gearbox, but now Skoda is planning to introduce an automatic gearbox as well on 17th September. Skoda Rapid manual price starts from Rs. 7.49 lakh and automatic is expected at a starting price of around Rs 9.00 lakh (ex-showroom).

    The Skoda Rapid rivals the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Toyota Yaris and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

    Mahindra eKUV100

    Mahindra eKUV100

    Mahindra eKUV100 electric car first premiered in India earlier this year during the Auto Expo 2020. With its price in India starting around the ₹8 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, it is likely to become the cheapest electric car on sale in India. It will rival the Mahindra eVerito and Tata Tigor EV. The KUV100-based EV will get a 15.9kWh liquid-cooled battery and it will have a claimed range of 147km. 

    Mahindra eKUV Competitors: 

    The Mahindra eKUV100 will rival the Mahindra eVerito, Tata Tigor EV, Tata Nexon EV, new upcoming Tata Altroz EV and Tata Tiago EV.

    Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe

    Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe

    Mercedes-Benz has started accepting bookings for its 5-seater, luxury D-segment SUV/crossover, AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe, from September 8. It has a 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine which is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. It produces 520Nm of peak torque and 435PS of maximum power. As per the company, the car can do a 0-100kmph stint in 5.3 seconds.

    Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe Competitors: 

    On the basis of price, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 Coupe will rival the BMW X6, BMW X7, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Land Rover Discovery and Volvo XC90.

    Expected Price: Rs. 1.0+ Crore

    Expected Launch: 23rd September 2020

    Mahindra Thar

    The new generation Mahindra Thar is a 4-/6-seater off-road SUV that will get two engine options. First, a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a maximum power of 152PS at 5000rpm and a peak torque of 300Nm at 1250-3000rpm. Second, a 2.2 L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with a maximum power of 132PS at 3750rpm and a peak torque of 300Nm at 1600-2800rpm. Both the engines will be available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter type automatic transmission. 

    The SUV is slated to go on sale on 2 October. Mahindra will start accepting vehicle's booking on the same day. The Thar will be available in two variants — AX and LX. While the lower-spec AX is designed to cater to the enthusiasts, Mahindra claims that the LX model is designed more for buyers looking for lifestyle purposes.

    On the basis of price, the Mahindra Thar will rival the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Honda WR-V, the upcoming Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Renault Kiger (HBC) and Nissan Magnite.

    Expected Price: Rs. 9.5 - 12.5 lakh

    Expected Launch: 2nd October 2020

    Launch Possibility: Confirmed

    MG Gloster

    MG Gloster

    MG Gloster is a 6-seater D-segment SUV that comes with a single engine option: a 2.0-litre 218PS diesel engine. The Gloster is MG’s fourth model in India after the Hector, Hector Plus and ZS EV. MG has created a webpage for Gloster to register buyer’s interest but bookings are not open yet. Expect a starting price of around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). 

    MG Gloster Competitors:

    The MG Gloster will rival the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and ISUZU mu-X.

    Expected Price: Rs. 30.0 - 40.0 lakh

    Hyundai Elite i20 2020

    Elite i20 2020

    The new generation Hyundai Elite i20 will remain a 5 seater B2-segment hatchback, and it is expected to come with 3 engine options: a 1.5-litre 100PS diesel engine, a 1.0-litre 120PS turbo petrol engine and a 1.2-litre 83PS petrol engine. We expect Hyundai to offer the 1.0L turbo petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT while the diesel engine could be offered with a manual option only. It remains to be seen if Hyundai will offer the iMT (ACMT) on the new i20 or not. The 2020 Hyundai i20 is expected to be priced in the same range as the current model, which starts from Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

    Hyundai Elite i20 Competitors:

    The Hyundai Elite i20 will rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Freestyle.

    Expected Price: Rs. 6.5 - 9.5 lakh

    Expected Launch: October 2020

    Volkswagen Passat 2020

    Volkswagen Passat is a 5-seater D-segment sedan which will come with a single engine option: a 190PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Volkswagen is in the process of reintroducing its flagship sedan. The facelift version of the car was recently spotted on test in India.

    Volkswagen Passat Competitors:

    The Volkswagen Passat will rival the Skoda Superb and Toyota Camry.

    Expected Price: Rs. 30.0 - 40.0 lakh

    Audi Q2

    Audi Q2

    Audi Q2 is a 5-seater SUV which is expected to come with a single engine option: a 190PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As the name suggests, the Q2 sits below the Q3, which is currently discontinued in India. A  teaser from the German carmaker suggests that the Q2 is about to be launched in India soon. Based on the teasers, Indian buyers are likely to get the pre-facelifted Q2.

    Audi Q2 Competitors:

    Although the Q2 won’t have any direct rivals in India, it will go up against the likes of the BMW X1, Volvo XC40 and even the Mini Countryman.

    Expected Price: Rs. 30.0 - 40.0 lakh

    Renault Kiger (HBC)

    The Renault HBC is a 5 seater B2-segment SUV which is likely to come with a single engine option: 1.0-litre 100PS turbo petrol engine. This engine was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and will be coupled with 6-speed manual transmission. This engine will not only power the Kiger but also the Renault Triber and Nissan Magnite. Expect a starting price of around Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). 

    Renault Kiger (HBC) Competitors: 

    The Renault Kiger (HBC) will rival the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Honda WR-V, the upcoming Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser and Nissan Magnite.

    Expected Price: Rs. 6.5 - 10.00 Lakh

    Expected Launch: October 2020

    Tata Gravitas

    Tata Gravitas

    The Tata Gravitas is a 7-seater D1-segment SUV which will come with the same engine option that you get on the Tata Harrier: a 2.0-litre 170PS turbo diesel engine. It will be coupled with a 6-speed manual and a torque converter type automatic transmission. Gravitas was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020.

    Tata Gravitas Competitors: 

    The Tata Gravitas will rival the MG Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV500.

    Expected Price: Rs. 15.0 - 25.0 Lakh

    Mahindra XUV300 Turbo Sportz

    Mahindra XUV300 is a 5-seater B2-segment SUV and it’s expected to get a 1.2 L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a maximum power output of 130PS and peak torque of 230Nm. The XUV300 Sportz will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission and will have a mileage of 16.82kmpl. Mahindra XUV300 Sportz made its debut at Auto Expo 2020 and was expected to be launched in April 2020. However, due to the COVID19 pandemic, Mahindra has delayed the launch. The carmaker is yet to reveal the revised launch date for the sportier XUV300.

    Mahindra XUV300 Turbo Sportz Competitors: 

    The Mahindra XUV300 Turbo Sportz will rival the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, the upcoming Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Renault Kiger HBC and Nissan Magnite.

    Expected Price: Rs. 12.5 lakh

    Expected Launch: November 2020

    Launch Possibility: Low

    Audi Q7 2020

    Audi Q7

    Audi Q7 is a 5-seater luxury SUV that will get a 3.0L, turbo petrol engine with a maximum power of 340PS and peak torque of 500Nm. The Q7 will be offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Audi Q7 facelift was supposed to replace the BS4 version in April 2020. However, due to COVID19 Audi has delayed the launch. The carmaker is yet to reveal the revised launch date for the 2020 Audi Q7. 

    Audi Q7 Competitors: 

    On the basis of price, the Audi Q7 will rival the BMW X6, BMW X7, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Land Rover Discovery and Volvo XC90.

    Expected Price: Rs. 80 Lakh - 1.0 Crore

    Expected Launch: December 2020

    Launch Possibility: Low

    Mahindra TUV300 BS6 2020

    Mahindra TUV300 is a 7-seater MPV. It is expected to be updated for the BS6 norms. It will get a 1.5L, turbo diesel engine with a maximum power of 101PS and peak torque of 240Nm. The TUV300 will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission. There is currently no update from the carmaker on the AMT transmission option or the launch date of the car.

    Mahindra TUV300 Competitors: 

    The Mahindra TUV300 will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo.

    Expected Price: Rs. 7.0 - 11.0 Lakh

    Expected Launch: December 2020

    Mercedes-Benz E-Class Facelift

    Mercedes-Benz E-Class Facelift

    Mercedes-Benz has given the fifth-generation E-class a refresh, with revised styling, new electrified engines and more interior comfort and technology. The revised global engine line-up includes seven petrol and diesel plug-in hybrid variants across the sedan and estate, with rear- and four-wheel drive option. Output for the PHEVs ranges from 156PS to 367PS for the petrol units and 160PS to 330PS for the diesel. Full details are yet to be released.

    Mercedes-Benz E-Class Facelift Competitors: 

    The Mercedes-Benz E-class will rival the BMW 5 series, Audi A6, Jaguar XF and Volvo S60.

    Expected Price: Rs. 60.0 - 80.0 Lakh
