While Maruti Suzuki haven’t revealed any details regarding the upcoming SUV, we expect it to offer the same set of engines as the Grand Vitara, including the 1.5L normal petrol and its CNG derivative as well as the 1.5L strong hybrid petrol.

Like the Grand Vitara, the upcoming SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and the Toyota Hyryder.

Citroen India will launch the 2025 Basalt X on September 3. Bookings for the Basalt X are currently open for a token amount of Rs. 11,000. While Citroen are yet to reveal the  full list of features of the Basalt X, expect updates to the exterior and interior of the coupe SUV, similar to what we have recently seen in the new C3X variants.

We expect the Basalt X to offer a premium-looking black and tan interior theme instead of the all-white theme of the regular model. It could also offer a rear center armrest with twin cupholders and a translucent strip on the dashboard, hinting at the addition of ambient lighting. It is also expected to get keyless entry and a push-button start/stop system.

Under the bonnet, the Basalt X is expected to continue with the same engine options as the regular Basalt:

  • 1.2L normal petrol engine that produces 82PS of power and 115Nm of torque.
  • 1.2L turbo-petrol engine that produces 110PS of power and 190Nm of torque.

The normal petrol is limited to a 5-speed manual transmission whereas yhe turbo-petrol engine is available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The new Citroën Basalt X range is anticipated to be priced at a slight premium of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000 over the existing top-spec variants. It will continue to rival the likes of the Tata Curvv while serving as a stylish alternative to SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
