Japanese auto major Nissan has already started testing its new Kicks compact SUV on the Indian roads. The upcoming Nissan Kicks has been already caught testing in India a couple of times, and now the Japanese SUV has been spied again while on test in a video clip, which also offers a small glimpse into the vehicle’s cabin. From whatever can be ascertained from the spy video clip of the testing Nissan Kicks, it can be safely said that the India-spec model will have a cabin layout that is very similar to the global model, which means premium interior with up-class materials.
At this point of time, it is good to mention that while the international Kicks SUV is based on the more up-market but smaller V platform, the India-spec model will be underpinned by the B0 platform that underpins the ongoing Nissan Terrano and the Renault Duster and Captur SUVs in India. The platform sharing will make the India-speck Kicks more cost effective, while also offering larger dimensions than that of its global counterpart in order to suit the Indian preference.
Coming back to the sneak-peek at the India-bound Nissan Kicks’ cabin, the India-spec Kicks is expected to share the dashboard layout with the upcoming 5th generation Nissan Micra. Both the Kicks and the new-gen Micra’s launch timelines are yet to be confirmed by Nissan India, but they are both definitely coming our way. The small glimpse at the SUV’s interior reveals a low-set dashboard that comes with a neat and minimalist styling along with a classy leather wrapped soft touch panel which covers the entire width of the vehicle’s cabin. The SUV was also caught flaunting a stylish flat-bottom steering wheel which can also be found in other Nissan car models. In the international markets, the Kicks compact SUV is available with multiple colour-coded choices for the soft-touch panel as well as matching leather seat upholstery.
Another feature that’s worth mentioning in the Kicks is the 7 inch touchscreen integrated infotainment system which comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Thus, the Nissan Kicks will offer this highly popular feature, which is sorely missed on its French cousin Renault Captur SUV. Globally, the Kicks also comes with an instrument cluster with a 7 inch colour display screen offering 12 functions, which includes vital vehicle stats, a compass and a digital tachometer among other functions. Moreover, the Nissan Kicks is also braced with the advanced feature of a 360-degree camera along with four strategically placed cameras all over the vehicle. However, we still don’t know which of these great features will make it to our car market. Nevertheless, Nissan has already mentioned that the Kicks will be a highly feature-loaded model and will come with several class-first features.
As all the vehicles based on the B0 platform have a length of over 4.3 mts, the upcoming Nissan Kicks will not be a sub-4 meter SUV, but a compact SUV model which will dimensions similar to the Renault Captur. Post its Indian launch, the Nissan Kicks will fight it out with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and is expected to come with a price range of around Rs. 10 to 15 Lakhs.
